i have no idea how numbers are assigned to players . Broyld being given #1 could be significant or pure random selection. I'm leaning towards significant in his being chosen as the primary successor to Nassib and this season's back up to Ryan. It makes sense to get him in some games for the experience factor and maybe even a divergent offense that features a running QB by design. with the occasional pass to really mix it up. Especially if its on first down which now constitutes a rick play.
