SU Football IPF Constructions Should Start Soon (TNIAAM; Keeley)

A little later than originally planned, it sounds like construction of the $13M, 102K sqaure-foot indoor practice facility will get underway in a few weeks.

"We're still a few weeks away," said Joe Giansante, chief of communications for the SU athletic department. "We're hoping to get started as soon as possible."

Syracuse was hoping to have construction underway sooner but various permitting, code and land use issues needed to be resolved. Giansante characterized those as "little details."

The target date for completion, recently said to be by the time fall practice convenes, remains.

"Once it starts, it's going to go up really quickly," Giansante said. "You'll be shocked."

Film Study of 2015 SU RB Recruit Jordan Fredericks (PS; Mink)

...
Extremely versatile

Fredericks spends his time moving from one sport to the next throughout the year. His athletic prowess manifests itself on the football field whether he lines up at tailback, slot receiver or quarterback. Fredericks also plays strong safety at Lawrence and often cuts the field in half for opposing quarterbacks.

He is a consummate athlete on the field, and it will give offensive coordinator George McDonald several options.

His best catch comes at the 7:15 mark when Fredericks is lined up in the slot and makes a spectacular adjustment on a ball underthrown, using his hands to cleanly snatch it...

ACC Football: Who Has the Most to Prove Post-Spring? (Fox Sports Carolinas; Brownlow)

Tyler Rouse, Pride of Baldwinsville

...
RB Tyler Rouse/RB Myles Willis, Boston College. After the nation's leading rusher Andre Williams graduated, that left a huge hole in the Boston College backfield. While head coach Steve Addazio (entering his second season) said the offense will likely be more diverse next season, his brand of football still features more the running game than the passing game. Rouse and Willis combined for 143 yards in the spring game -- not bad, but not great -- but Addazio is high on them. "They'll both play. They aren't the style of running back that Andre (Williams) was. You have to split them up," Addazio said. "We have a few young guys and I'm sure we will play three or four backs."

QB Terrel Hunt, Syracuse. By default, he's one of the most experienced quarterbacks in the ACC. And his job is among the most secure, too. But head coach Scott Shafer has shown he's not shy about playing the quarterback who's going to give the team the best chance to win, and by all indications, Hunt is getting a challenge from the younger QBs on the roster. Hunt was 12-of-15 for 95 yards himself, though, and Shafer has done nothing but praise his leadership in the spring. So that's a good sign for him, but he's going to have to watch his back. He finished last season strong after a strong start, though he did have a six-game stretch without a passing touchdown, but he finished the year with three touchdowns and one interception in the last three games after that previous six-game drought.

Eagles fans boo Donovan McNabb
-- Philadelphia fans are famous for throwing batteries and snowballs at games, once even booing Santa Claus. Donovan McNabb feels Kris Kringle's pain. In 1999, the Eagles picked the Syracuse quarterback second overall. As McNabb walked to the podium, Philly fans booed the selection mercilessly, upset that their team didn't draft Ricky Williams. In retrospect, the Eagles dodged an all-time bullet by taking McNabb, who went right after Tim Couch and right before Akili Smith. Yikes...

The comments in the article about how to pronounce Syracuse were hilarious. Some of the best I've ever read. Me and my whole family say it with the bear sound, including the 4 Cuse grads. I never noticed the other version, but it would probably annoy the hell out of me. TeamBear!
