Wow what an amazing game. One of more fun games we have witnessed in the past 10 years or so. Can't say enough about these kids. After a few blowouts, a ton of injuries, and even more questions about the offense and defense, these kids never once stopped fighting. They played their hearts out for this coaching staff the past 2 weeks. It shows just how much they want to win for the staff, and each other. A lot of time that type of stuff gets overlooked, and too much gets put on talent. There were plenty of opportunities we could have quit on Shafer just like Rutgers, NCST, Illnois, Nebraska etc and many other teams across the country did when things got tough.

Here are some thoughts, which I admit are still kind of scattered as I still am coming off a great natural high

-Terrel Hunt has quietly had a great last 2 games. This was easily the best game of his career. He had a few bad passes, but he also threaded the needle very nicely on a few occasions. The 1 time he hit Estime in between 3 defenders comes to mind. He was also allowed to carry the ball since we had nothing to lose, and he showed just what he can do with his feet. He isn't the fastest, but he is extremely shifty. Finally what can you say about that last drive. Again this is just a Sophmore qb and he showed great poise down the stretch. Made some big time throws to bring us 80 yards in 2 minutes with 0 timeouts. Well done Mr Hunt

-Offensive Line had another great performance. Hickey showed how tough he is playing on a badly injured ankle. Not many people thought he would play, but he showed what type of leader he is. BC had very little pass rush the entire game, and we ran the ball good a good amount as well. Close to 500 total yards means your doing something right. It was nice to see Lasker step in those last 2 drives and play well (minus the false start). He was the one that got out in front of Parris on the final play to get a piece of the BC defender. Mackey played his ass off as well in his last game in the Dome. Props to him on an outstanding career, we are lucky we get to see him suit up 1 more time in a Syracuse uniform

-Alvin Cornelius. This kid is just a Freshman. I think he has shown the past 2 weeks that he is going to be in the WR mix next season. Made some big time catches on that last drive. Has shown a little more burst then I originally thought he had. He did makes some plays in the Spring game, and Fan Fest so it's not a total surprise now that he is given a chance. That's a way to capitalize on an opportunity.

-Josh Parris had 7 catches today. pretty amazing when you consider how little we used the TE this season. Moore would have had another TD on the first drive, but dropped a TD pass reception that hit him in the hands. Anyways it was good to see McDonald use the TE. This position should be a weapon for us going forward. But it was good to see Parris, another Freshman make some big plays

-Defensive line was outstanding today. Totally shut down Williams. Micah Robinson was consistently getting a good push and had 4 solo tackles. Probably his best game of the season. Stopping a running attack like that is a team effort though. Everyone maintained their gaps and made some plays. Maquez Hodge, yet another Freshman led the team in tackles, and seemed to be everywhere at once.

Finally I can't say enough about Coach Shafer. I give him all the credit for this. It's obvious these kids love him and will run through a wall for him. Getting these 15 extra practices is huge, as is the selling point of being able to say you made 3 bowls in 4 years. Couldn't be happier for him, and the program. It was fun to be in the Dome again. That 4th quarter was amazing. Felt like old times.

Now let's go get 1 more WIN

LETS GO ORANGE!!
