Thought I would send this out there earlier than normal since we seem to have a bunch of newbies on board and some people thought no one was focusing in on the upcoming season. We most likely won't start taking actual predictions until right before the first exhibition game which this year is on Tuesday, November 1st and any prediction or adjustment must be complete before tip off of the first real game of the season which is Saturday, November 12th.
There are six catagories that you will need to make predictions on. I have included below the recap from last season, which explains all the rules and you can see who the most knowledgeable fans really are. Last year we had 107 people involved. Hopefully a few more people get invovled this year.
Here is the recap from last spring:
Unfortunately the season is over, but that means that we can now determine the official Iggy award winners. All the ballots have been tabulated and Iggy himself has brought them back from Florida. Just as a reminder we have six official catagories: Overall regular season record, Big East record, BET record, NCAA record, Leading Scorer and Leading Rebounder. We also had everyone choose what they felt was going to be Cuse's points per game, which helped in the tie breaking process. Each of the winners will receive an official IGGY statue (if they so choose) so please PM me your shipping info. Overall we had 107 entrants, so congrats to the winners. So without any further ado, here are the winners of the 2010-2011 IGGY awards.
OVERALL REGULAR SEASON RECORD (25-6)
Of the 107 entries, we had 22 who had the foresight to choose 25-6. I was one of them and I know when we hit the mid-season swoon, how difficult it was going to be to reach 25 wins. Fortunately the team ended up winning the last five games of the regular season to finish at 25-6. Since we had 22 people pick 25 wins, we had to go to the tie-breaker which was closest to points per game which ended up being 73.6 ppg. The first IGGY goes to NYCSUGrad who won the award by being the closest in the tiebreaker with 73.4 ppg.
BIG EAST REGULAR SEASON RECORD (12-6)
Of the 107 entries, we had 30 people who picked 12-6. We then went to the first tiebreaker which Big East Regular Season Record. We had three (including yours truly) who picked 25 wins. We then went to the second tiebreaker which was points per game and of those three (CliftonPark, Orangepace and Obliterata) the next IGGY goes to Orangepace who won by being closest in the tiebreaker with 76.5ppg.
BIG EAST TOURNAMENT RECORD (1-1)
Of the 107 entries, we had 28 who picked 1-1. We went to the first tiebreaker which was BE regular season record and this narrowed it down to thirteen who chose 12-6. We then went to the second tiebreaker and of those thirteen, we had four who picked 24 wins as the regular season record. We then had to go to the third tiebreaker which was points per game and of the four (Joe44, Dash30Dash, Cuseyammer and Corduroy), the next IGGY goes to Joe44 who wins by being closest in the tiebreaker with 74.4 ppg.
NCAA RECORD (1-1)
Of the 107 entries we only had seven who chose 1-1. Obviously most people expected more out of this season than how it ended. Only two people picked worst than 1-1, and that was orange2win who picked 0-1 and STOrange who picked 1-1 in the NIT (Yikes!!). So, out of the seven in the tiebreaker, all seven stayed tied in the first tiebreaker which was the BET record. That was odd. In the second tiebreaker which was the Big East Regular Season record, we were able to narrow it down to three who picked 12 wins. We then had to go to the third tiebreaker which was Regular season record and of the three (Dash30Dash, iommi and 44gk44) one of the three picked 24 wins and two picked 23 wins, and the next IGGY goes to Dash who picked the 24 wins.
LEADING SCORER (KRIS JOSEPH 14.4 PPG)
Out of the 107 entries, we had 85 who picked Air Canada. Out of those 85, we have one person who guessed right on the nose Kris Joseph at 14.4 pgg. The next IGGY goes to PittsburghCuse with a pretty good guess.
LEADING REBOUNDER (RICK JACKSON 10.6 RPG)
Out of the 107 entries, we had 57 who picked Ricky. We also had 43 who picked Fab Melo. That's what is difficult about preseason predicitions. If we had to guess next season, I'm not even sure I could guess who that will be. Out of the 57, it came down to two people who were fairly close (CuseinNYC and Kirbivore) and the next IGGY goes to CuseinNYC with a pick of 9.0 rebounds per game.
