Keep the rooks in there, and let them play through their lumps. They make mistakes, but they have energy too. I love seeing Long fist pumping, and throwing to Ishmael. These guys can be good if they give them the reins. I like what I'm seeing out of Long, and Ishmael is starting to emerge. Erv had some good runs today too.

I also like our new offensive coordinator. Things seem more fluid, it's like they have a plan. The two runs to erv followed by the fake to Erv, and the counter to Prince for good yardage. There's a thought process to what they're doing, not just a it, lets see if it works.

I'm liking what I'm seeing out there.

It seemed that anytime those 3 true freshmen were in the game together, something good usually happened! I pointed it out to my friends on multiple occasions. We tailgate at Manley & I got a chance to meet & talk with Ishmael after the game, What a nice kid! Handsome kid with a beautiful smile & great hair! He also seems taller than 6'2". He appeared to be truly humbled that we thought so highly of him. When I mentioned the 3 freshman thing he said - "that's why we're here ma'am - to make a difference." Wish I had met Erv too. Also spoke to Cam Lynch, Wayne Williams, Adrian Fleming & a couple more. The kids all seemed pretty upbeat - not jubilant, but not dejected either. They also told us John Miller has a sprain & Wilson got his bell rung. Hopefully neither of those things is too serious.

Someone on a FSU board said they had heard that our "new QB" had been compared to Russell Wilson. I saw that yesterday and laughed my ass off.

Honestly, it's still obviously farfetched...but not nearly as farfetched as I thought yesterday.

Was Ishmael the receiver that almost had the one handed reception in the endzone?

Ishmael couldn't wrestle away the 'go up and get it' pass on 4th down in the endzone.

Yes.

EDIT: correction. It was Parrish.

EDIT2: PARRIS! Damn spell check!

If that ball is thrown 6 inches higher, that's a TD. Ishmael could have made the catch, AJ could have made the throw a little better, but at the end of the day you really have to tip your hat to the defender, who made a nice play to break it up.

I still think that was a good play. If that ball was thrown just a bit deeper, he would have had a better shot at it.

QB AJ Long
WR Steve Ishmael
RB Erv Phillips

Best trio of true frosh skill players we've had in a very long time. Love what I'm seeing from them.

That, and wouldn't mind seeing Custis worked in as well.

Defensively I would be good swapping Welsh and Robinson's reps with Johnson and Thompson. Would like to see more Franklin for Hodge/Arciniega, Thomas for Kirkland, and Rodney Williams (when healthy) split with Desir. Let the youth movement begin. We burned these redshirts lets make it worth it.

I think that fade they tried to Ish needs to be a set play down there for Custis. I will trust the staff...but it just seems like a no brainer to me.

Didn't love the fade, but on replay, ish very nearly came down with it. Just don't love that late in a series, because it's such an "all or nothing" play

Agreed we should have thrown that on third down knowing we were going for it on 4th. 6" higher and that is a TD .. that is the part that really sucks.

That play was right in front of me... The FSU player made a great play. Ishmael had it but it was forced out.

Play the best players. Should not worry about 'saving' anyone. If there are better players sitting, get them in.
