I taped today's game and I'm watching the game a second time right now. Our defense was really good today. Players in the 3 and 4 spot were terrific moving up on the wings causing havoc. Dayton did miss a lot of shots but I would argue it was because the defense was so active. Defense will be key to winning on Sunday.

I loved the miss when the Dayton player was expecting G to challenge the shot (and probably draw a foul), and G just stepped out of the way and the Dayton player whiffed on what should have been an easy layup.

i was half expecting the ref to call a foul, because they usually anticipate the contact on that sort of play and blow the whistle before there is even any contact.

Dayton held to a season low 51 points.
But seriously, Dayton missed 15 dunks/bunnies. Weren't they just playing an awful offensive game? Were most of those misses caused by our defense, because except for the G sidestep, it just seemed to be all on them. (I need to watch again, too, but I don't usually "see" things the way my sharp-eyed confreres on this board do.)

The fact that Dayton kept missing shots around the rim that they should have made has caused me feel worried about the next game. Although we did turn it up in the second half. Thoughts? Reassurances?

Dayton missed a lot of bunnies, clearly we know what that feels like BUT what impressed me was the second half perimeter defense. Too often lately we've been giving up wide open threes with minimal effort by the other team to get those shots. Whatever we did in that second half needs to be the standard moving forward.. Contest around the basket, allow mid range jumpers with a hand in the face and extend/guard the three point line.

MTSU won't beat us by scoring two's. We need to defend the three point line like we did second half against Dayton.
