I was watching the video screen as the SUMB seniors were being honored. For several, they gave their schools as Oswego, ESF, and LeMoyne. When did the band start recruiting non-SU students? Is this recruiting limited to tubas?

Personally, I have no problem with it - especially if they could double the band size so I could hear what they're playing from my seat on the visitor's side. They are very good, but understaffed. I love their performances on the Hendricks Chapel steps.

It’s been that way for a long time. ESF students have always been able to participate in any SU student activity. I marched with with ESF kids 30+ years ago.

Oswego and LeMoyne inclusion is more recent but it’s been a decade? Maybe longer.

I believe the latter occurred to boost the size of the band. Participation dropped a lot over the years. The football team being a long running disaster hadn’t helped.

I know that if you are in ESF you get lifetime membership in the KISS Army
