tony pauline (SI.com) says Chan

don't know if he is gone, but he was told he would go in the 3rd round range maybe as high as late 2nd and low of 4th.

If that is accurate he should go.

If he's going to be a 3rd round pick I don't blame him for leaving but I hope this isn't a Donte Greene situation for him...

Somebody told Chandler he'd be picked in the third round? That's cool. I doubt it, but it sounds cool.

Another reason why Jones is probably deciding to bolt early is because he sees no potential for the '12 Syracuse squad. After a 2011 season that ended so badly -- five straight losses and a final 5-7 record -- there's no reason for a player like Jones to return. Jone, unlike USC's quarterback Matt Barkley, has no team goal to play for in '12 and it seemed that a bunch of the Orange players were not all on the same page.

If Shamarko and Dorian Graham want to get out of here (who are at best late round draft picks), what do you think Chandler is thinking?

oops - didn't see your thread before I started mine.

If that's the case, he should definitely go. No question about it.

3rd round in the draft is a solid position. Unless he plans on having a "30 sack" season in 2012, its unlikely his stock is going to rise much more than that.

But if his 3rd round turns into a 5th round pick, he'll regret his decision.

It's funny to me how some people think Chandler should go as a 3rd-rounder, yet Donte Greene was bashed for leaving and being picked much earlier.

Yep, 100%. Compared to coming back and playing for next year's SU team? No brainer.

The ironic thing was that next year was the year that everyone was pointing to as the breakthrough year. As a matter of fact, if everyone comes back, we should at least be pretty good on defense.

Maybe he can get to the QB in the pros. He certainly couldn't in college.

There are only 2 rounds of the NBA draft. There are 7 rounds of the NFL draft.

Going in the 3rd round of the NFL draft is akin to being a late 1st round/early 2nd round NBA draftee. It is a solid draft position.

Did any of this have to do with head coach Doug Marrone losing control of his locker room during the final five games of the season?
My guess, is yes

From that SB Nation article linked above.

Sucks when you start seeing this stuff in print from the media. It's one thing to hear scuttlebutt on the board but this kind of thing isn't good to see in print. Not good for recruits to see at all.

Doug certainly has his work cut out for him ... 2012 is a sink or swim type year for him and it's not looking good.

That's where Donte went in the draft

I tweeted at the author, he told me him and the other media members were the source. People on this board are more well connected than this clown.

2 completely different things. Donte would have been coming back to a team that had top ten potential. Regardless of whether or not this team can end the season ranked, there is no way they are a top ten team. Jones is leaving the worst team in essentially the worst conference in the BCS.

Nothing to play for, thanks for the effort Chandler and well root for you in the NFL.
