Top 16 Impactful Freshmen

I'm going on record again by saying that Brad Beal is going to be a real stud. Can't believe he is ranked #14. Hopefully Xmas makes a bigger impact then he does.

Yeah I agree. Beal looked like the best player in the McD AA game

A little OT ... but is there such a word as impactful?

I think Christmas has the potential to be great, but not this year. Of course, I wont complain if I'm wrong.

Not sure how he left Drummond off the list.

Of our freshmen, my guess is MCW will be the immediate star.

If you’re a columnist, this has to be the easiest article to write. Take 15 kids who were in the McDonald’s All America game(hence the Drummond omission, which makes the article lose all credibility to me), read the recruiting profile, summarize.

Rak is going to be a really good player but I really don’t think he’s going to impact us all that much this year. I think he’ll start and JB will have a quick hook while Fair comes in and does the heavy lifting, but either way, we’re not going to be dependent on him. To me, a real impact freshman would be someone on a lesser team who has to play major minutes and contribute.

Alot of people counting big time on Rak. Sure hes raw but even more the question for me is...

Is he the Paul Harris type caught inbetween two positions to a hinderance? Or is he the Rick Jackson type caught in between two as a positive?

Once practice starts can't wait to hear which position has more upside for him this year.

Saw one of his high school games (on TV). Rak played a wing at the back of their zone, was decent on the boards (considering his height--might have expected better), and not much of a factor on offense. He is lean & athletic -- will block shots and run the court. Did not play as a center; did not show post-up moves inside; does not have a dribble move to the basket. So, no, I don't believe he is caught between positions -- he needs to be a PF and he needs to develop some skills. His problem this year will be the combo with whoever is at C -- difficult to imagine that we play Keita at C plus Rak. Neither one provides shooting or post moves, so you might be fine on defense, but struggle to get scoring. With Melo at C, it depends on whether the light has gone on for Melo.

What positions is he caught between? He's going to be a 4 for us.

Swatting the ish out of Khem Birch in that photo! I can get used to that. :)

Birch deserves to get swatted wearing that stupid long sleeve shirt, what a loser
