ok just relax a bit, I'm not saying we could be a top 25 team sometime this year (Hmm Maybe I am... Er umm anyways)...

But do you think if we beat USF, Virginia, and Pitt we are ranked for the FSU matchup?????

I know one damn week at a time... But it's fun to guess..

No. But we'll get some "also receiving votes" action IF we are 6-1 heading into FSU.

Beat Usf and Uva, we will get some votes, beat Pitt and if some other top 25 teams lost, we could crack it. Lets take care of business first.

It really depends on the lower ranked teams. Right now 11-25 feel interchangeable. There are going to be teams in that range with much worse showings and performances than SU.

We were talking about this at the game. If we had pulled off the upset, would we crack the top 25?

First of all, yes SU would be ranked if they pulled off the upset. Second of all, if you are 6-1 going into the FSU game you WILL be ranked, I'd bet my left testicle on that. However, you will get the pro-rated ACC grade which means in the 20-25 range. An SEC team with the same resume would be in the top 10.

I would think we would have to be ranked in the top 25 for beating number 8 and being 4-0.

Any other team in the country, with the exact same schedule, the exact same results and scores would be ranked. We better be!!

LSU will probably be undefeated by the time we play FSU, having a win over Florida (who will probably be ranked by the time they play). After beating Florida, they will definitely be top 3, especially as the Fournette-for-Heismann train picks up serious speed in late October.

So, if SU is 6-1 (3-0 in ACC) with the only loss (by 10 points) to a top 3 (or higher?) championship-favorite LSU, they will absolutely be ranked, especially to boost TV ratings against FSU.

NO WAY are we ranked if we are 6-1. The 6 teams we would have beaten, RIU, Wake, CMU, USF, UVA, Pitt, are not exactly a murderers row. A 1 AA school, and 2 non P5 schools don't garner much respect.

I wouldn't say that just yet ... NW and Stanford could easily go 0-2 in the next two weeks and fall out of the top 25 very quickly making room for teams like SU to climb in ... its all a matter of taking care of business and letting the votes fall where they may.

Just looked at the coaches poll on cbs sports, and seeing as how they have BC in the "others receiving votes" category at 3-1 with stellar victories over Maine, Howard, and NIU, and a respectable showing vs an overrated FSU team, anything is possible. Can that be right? They beat 2 1AA teams, and a non P5, with a loss to FSU, and they're receiving votes in the coaches poll? They'll need 7 wins just to be bowl eligible. You're telling me that is more deserving of a top 25 vote than beating 1 1AA school, a P5 school handily, good MAC school without our best weapons, and a 10 point loss to a legit National Title contender?
I thought maybe it just wasn't updated yet, but it says updated 9-27-15.
I take it back...it is possible. By that logic, if we get to 6-1 we'll be in the hunt for the 4 team playoff...

EDIT: Never mind. It was updated after I posted, and they no longer have a vote. Still pissed that they even had a vote until yesterdays games played out though...what a joke.

Meh .. i think a lot of pretenders are going to exposed in the next two weeks and that could open things up for us by midseason if this team keeps winning ... that is all they need to do right now ... the polls will take care of themselves.

Agreed. It's been so long since we've been ranked, I get a little excited. It really means nothing I guess. It's just a nice little feather in our caps. Nice recruiting tool as well.

The cbs sports 128 has us at 68. That's before yesterdays games. Not sure if a close loss to LSU would move us up or not, but I find it interesting that on the "too high, too low" poll next to us, that 75% of the people say we are ranked too low. This means 1 of 2 things

1- We're getting some love from the general public
2- We've all been getting busy on the cbs sports 128 poll.

Auburn got 8 votes? You've got to be kidding me.

I'm more shocked that NC Sate got 52. 4-0 with wins over Troy, Eastern Kentucky, Old Dominion, and South Alabama. Granted they've done what they're supposed too, but c'mon...that schedule is softer than baby shite.
