Coaching tree shmoaching shmree, right?

Tulsa put up 600 yards in their loss to oklahoma

bowling green is 1-2 with 557 being their lowest output

the big question this year is how much credit does dungey get and how much credit does lester get?

if shafer keeps his job, by all means keep lester. i'm not going to punish the OC who finally found a qb. but if shafer goes, watch these Briles proteges.

1 - I'm not disagreeing with you

2 - Coyle should have a folder and these guys should be in it

3 - I don't know that it's just Dungey. He makes the whole thing seem really, really promising - but I think the system so far has been pretty sound. I see WR's schemed open, running plays where we get 10+ yards with misdirection. Less penalties. I'm encouraged most for Dungey in this system. But this system (again so far) seems to be a good start.

4 - it hasn't felt like everything was clicking just yet either. Hopefully bye week + healthy Dungey/Erv can really show us something at USF.

i think dungey is one of those guys that are so talented, he can make any offense work*

*unless you force him to throw bubble screens to a triple covered WR

Would these coaches want to bring their staffs with them? Same defensive coordinators who result in 557+ yard outings being losses? How many yards did Oklahoma rack up against Tulsa's 600?

773. is that bad? ha.

tulsa's defense was atrocious last year too, bowling green's too.

Maybe it's the systems they ran/run, but Dungey reminds me a bit of Andrew Luck. Crazy as that sounds. Know this is a bit off topic of this thread, but it came to mind when it was mentioned that he could run whatever system.

those teams also have better WR than we do.. that is the real question to ask.. I was good this week and didnt even mention our #1 being caught with a 7-8 yd lead out pass. team speed , how do we find out at the WR position. i am ok with the lack of RB speed if they run hard and make decent cuts.

I didnt see the Miss kid come close to being caught by the Ala kids and he was lugging a ball just like Estime w weeks ago.

montgomery is a person of interest...

None of this was lost on me either.

maybe these guys can recruit WRs who score fast enough on 89 yard TDs

are you really sure that Tulsa and Bowling Green's WR are better than SU's

come on

A tough situation for sure but this week should give us some clue as to Lester's skill in drawing up schemes. Unless we go full triple option but even so we can see if he has any ability to scheme yards with inferior talent.

Lets give Lester credit. This O is solid. It is year one running it with a true frosh. Yes Dungey is a very good QB but the training that he has received from Lester and the system is also responsible for his success. Add in the fact that both Wilson and The General came on and didnt seem confused and you have both a system and a teacher who gets it. What a ray of sunshine compared to the cluster GM rolled out.

I cant wait to see what Dungey does in the O as the years go by. My sense is that we are in for a very good ride.

yes.. not even close

Under Babers, the Bowling Green offense flourished for much of the season. One such notable performance came from true freshman wide receiver Roger Lewis, who became the first freshman in school history to surpass 1,000 receiving yards in a season. Despite losing starting quarterback, and consensus preseason player of the year, Matt Johnson in week one, BGSU’s offense featured three wide outs with more than 50 catches and six total receivers with 20-or-more receptions. They were one of three schools in the nation to achieve that feat.

i know that bowling green has great passing stats. i guess babers was just lucky to inherit such a gold mine at bowling green

I am more interested in yards per play and points per possession.

Pace can make a large difference in how an offense or defense looks when using game totals.
