I know that everyone feels as if Ennis or Mike G will have the most impact of the new guys next year and that is hard to argue with however i truly believe that by years end Ron P is going to turn some heads. He is explosive and is a scorer something that we really missed this year from the G position. BT and MCW were not natural scorers and it hurt us. With Fair being such a threat and Ennis being more of a true pg i can see patterson really coming on at the two. He is my sleeper for next season

I have siad it before and I will say it again. I saw him in person and was not at all impressed. Strong kid. But nothing special. There is a reason Indiana just let him go.

If Ennis is not the top newbie, it's going to be a long season.

Agreed, good or bad he will be the most impactfull newbie because we will rely on him so much.

He was just named player of the year in NH prep. I think he is going to be a great player for us

Is New Hampshire really known for producing great prospects?

I hope you are right. After seeing him, I am surprised we offered him a ship.

he plays for brewster... you know.. cj fair? mitch mcgary? chris mccullough. Dudes like that. they have like 5 div 1 dudes a year. I have seen him play a handful of times. He will be a good four year guy here. But the two best players we have coming is are the tylers.

I think the runaway choice is Ennis. I think everyone believes he is getting starter minutes at the pg.

I don't think everyone here feels, as I do, that MG will have a big impact. There are several who don't believe that MG is the starter right now -they feel Cooney is. For Patterson to have an impact next year he would have to unseat Cooney and MG. I don't see it happening.

MG is a recruit that originally chose between Duke and SU. He is now two years older and has a year in SU's system. JB has mentioned that MG may see time at the pg. That's a Wes-like clue right there.

Wow. Patterson likely won't be in the top 4 for newcomers.

JB touted Wes as the best player on the team while he red-shirted. He also said that Wes was a one year player at SU. I believe he also said Wes was the best player Cuse had for quite a while. Not sure the comparison to Wes is apt here.

My point is I think MG is going to win the sg role (I believe MG to be the leader right now). The Wes analogy wss being used for the clues JB is giving. The first one is the pg reference. His next one will be after the Italy trip and how well MG did.

The sg is going to need to help replace a lot of the scoring we just lost. I think MG will respond well to the challenge.

Being special is a matter of fixing your weaknesses.

Ron doesn't have a crafty dribble. He barely even has a behind the back dribble yet but he has a really long sidestep good lift on his jumper and a nice verticle release to go with his athleticism and long arms. Patterson and Ennis are going to force alot of shots this year. Atleast until acc ball and over in europe. Thats a long time.

Im not sold on Ennis or Rob being scorers yet but I think
1.Patterson could be faster at getting by his man one on one then jr/senior triche. But he won't have the dribbling of Triche.
2.Ennis will get by his guy better then freshmen MCW. MCW would try to go around them Ennis is going to get them offbalence in one direction and welcome the contact more then freshmen mcw.
3.BJ has a nice 3 point shot but his release isn't quick enough yet unless hes wide open. Still that can come in handy.
4. Im not sure on Robersons offense yet.

By default the team needs ennis play setting and passing. But either ennis or patterson are going to force shots if not both come ACC.

I agree but still feel that Ennis is the most impactful newcomer because he will be getting the majority of the PG minutes. I also think that JB saying MG can play 8min at the PG spot tells you that JB already sees him as a major player. I think he starts and by the end of the season the Ennis MikeG backcourt is getting talked up big time headed into post season play.

I think it is most important that Ennis is at least decent at pg because of the lack of alternatives. And I think he will be. Ennis just needs to be Scoop/BT frosh good for this team to be good (if we can get something out of the sg).

I think MG has a good chance at most impactful because the sg role will be more of a scorer and I think MG is going to win this role.

Patterson is now doomed...

Before anybody should answer, think back 12 months when this question was asked. How many people said Jarmi Grant? Some even had him redshirting. Statistically he lead all newcomers. Without him taking up the slack for Southerland's 6 game suspendsion, SU would have been in dire trouble and possibly lose all 6. Most said Coleman II. Followed by Cooney's zone busting shooting. How many were right? Point is that at this time the question is pure conjecture and any answer is a mere guess.

Ennis is the obvious choice and if anything I think he may be getting under rated. Sure he'll make some mistakes but he seems like a very under control player who is used to being in charge even when playing with other top talent. The backcourt with as little experience as it has coudl be really special next year. I too expect MG to start at the 2 but I still have hope that the flashes we saw of Cooney's shooting will become much more frequent next year. Its possible all 3 guards might be better shooters than the 3 we had last year. Roberson is probably next most likley newbie to contribute solid minutes. I think he will be part of a 3 man rotation at the forward slots with Grant and CJ. All 3 can play both positions. Add in our returning 3 headed center (Rak will certainly get several minutes at PF) and we have a strong 9 man rotation. Tough to see who will be odd man out if/when JB shortens his bench, it won't be Grant or CJ. Patterson and BJ are next men up. Each of them will likely get a chance to contribute at some point. Outside shooting is what will get them looks, assuming they can handle the defensive responsibility. As we've seen, not being able to handle your defensive responsibility will severely limit playing time even for McD AA's.
