Through the non conference slate, and a quarter way through the season here's what I got

Top Performer Offense - Terrel Hunt - Has given us hope

Biggest Surprise - Chris Clark - #1 receiver?

Consistently Good - Sean Hickey - Outstanding pass blocker

Disappointment - Rob Trudo - Thought he was ready to break out

Needs to step Up - Jerrod West - Obvious choice

Top Performer Defense - Jay Bromley - Moving into NFL draft pick territory

Biggest Surprise - Wayne Morgan - Possibly best game of his career yesterday

Consistently Good - DyShawn Davis - All over the field

Disappointment - Wilkes - 3 blown coverages for TD

Needs to step up - Durrel Eskridge - Good against the run, but needs to improve in pass coverage

Eskridge had a slight limp on the sidelines when no one was looking. No excuses but I think he is banged up a little bit - 2 weeks off and he should be ready to go. He needs to step it up big time against Boyd & company - along with Wilkes & Anderson. Hope Reddish & Welsh are back for Clemson too.

Great list!

IMO, biggest defensive surprise - Sugar Bear.
Redshirt freshman, new to the position and he's still having an excellent impact on the field.

With him, and now Isiah Johnson who should get more playing time right now, we may have our 2 future DE's

you can throw Beckett Wales into the walking wounded category. This bye week sets us up perfectly. We really need Reddish to be OK

I would say Beckett Wales has been the most disappointing....though I'm not sure how much of that has been under his control. He's banged up, and TE doesn't seem to be getting any opportunities. Very few balls thrown his way, which is not what any of us expected.

In his defense he was noticeably limping last game, and before that was rarely targeted. Going to be interesting what we do with the TE position in McDonald's offense. We seem to be recruiting primarily pass catching TE's, but his offense doesn't seem to utilize them?

As a group I think the defensive backs have been the biggest disappointment. I base that on the pre-season optimism about how strong they'd be.

With Welch out, they are our present DE's, along with Robinson. of course these days, the top four guys get almost equal time.
