The Syracuse track and field team travels to University Park, Pa. to compete in the Penn State National this weekend. The Orange will face over thirty teams, including five nationally ranked opponents in Penn State (No. 5), Villanova (No. 14), Akron (No. 18), Virginia Tech (No. 22), and Georgetown (No. 33).
'Cuse is coming off strong performances from last weekend's competition at the Cornell Upstate Challenge with six capturing gold for the Orange: Freddie Crittenden, Reggie Morton, Shaina Harrison, Maura Linde, and Sofia Mossberg.
At the Penn State National last year, Martin Hehir broke the school record in the 3,000-meter (7:59.40). Other top performances include; Donald Pollitt in the 60-meter dash (third/7.89), Dan Lennon and Juris Silenieks in the 5,000-meter run (second/14:42.15 and third/14:34.57), Colin Bennie in the mile (third/4:12.28), and Haley Cutright in the 3,000-meter (first/9:39.99).
Competition begins on Friday at 4 p.m. and Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track.
