I know Fran has said he wants to build from high school classes and I agree we need to an extent but, looking at the success of some of these teams that heavily use the portal it’s hard to deny it’s not working for them…

The huge difference is those teams can pay for high impact transfers at any position on the field. It’s something we just can’t do. I also don’t think you can depend on player development through HS recruiting. We’re in a real tough position right now. Have to be extremely smart.

sure the teams with money did well in the portal.. How many who spent big money did not do well?
Think it's interesting to look at teams that spend big money on HS kids vs transfers. ATM, Colorado, Clemson, etc have spent tons on HS kids to avoid the transfer portal and not done well. 20-21 year old kids with college film and experience are going to be safer investments than 17-18 year old HS kids where everything is brand new. Much better chance of ROI with known commodities IMHO.

Colorado is and always has been portal heavy the last couple years?

Well, I’d happily take anything approaching Ohio State or Georgia success.
