Tribute to 95-96 Team - the finish against Georgia in the Tourney

John saved me a ton of grief. I lived in Georgia at the time. While I don't get obnoxious with trash talking, I make it no secret that my loyalties are with Syracuse in a very big way. They're bad enough with football down there, I didn't need them to have basketball over me also

On top of everything else, being an OT game, it ended the streak of heartbreaking OT losses in the 92, 94, and 95 tourneys.

Wallace was amazing but his heroics never happen without cippola. Most clutch shot in cuse history!

Pearl and Tyler Ennis might beg to differ. But, given the stakes and the stage, I might give Cippola the nod too.

Burgan was loafing after John hit the go ahead three. He was walking back near mid-court while the Georgia player was crossing mid-court. They still had a chance to make a shot to win the game.

Yeah, HAVE to put the stakes and stage.

Pearl was random conference game at home in January against a ranked team. It's famous because it basically put Pearl on the national map

Ennis was at least on road game to keep #1 ranking and undefeated record

If Cipploa misses, we're DONE. Season over. That being said, I think Wallace's shot is actually the more difficult shot. A running, leaning 3. Ridiculous.

If I remember correctly we were down 8-10 points well into the second half of that game, the comeback making it all that much more thrilling. That Georgia game, the upset of Kansas and handling Mississippi State are very precious memories for me. I was 19 and watched all three games with my dad who had recently broken his leg. I remember us giggling like little kids as we finished off Miss State, amazed that what had been a somewhat average team was headed to the championship game. As someone had posted earlier all on the heels of recent ncaa heartbreak. God I love my Orange...

I was a freshman in college and on spring break for this game. the girls across the hall were from Kentucky and I remember this being so much fun. I watched the final four game with a d1 player for buffalo who was locked out of his room at the time, he had strongly negative opinions of Otis hill. I didn't take it that seriously.

2nd best road trip ever. Only beaten by New Orleans 2003.

Burgan seemed like a truly dumb individual. I have no proof of this. Have no idea. But he used to have some really dumb looks on his face. Just check out his face on that one play..i think it was vs Kansas..when Al Mcguire said "wipe out by todd"

he looks like he was just born and isnt quite sure how to process his existence.

Here's the final 4 semi vs MSU

some thoughts

-Have we ever had someone who played bigger for their size than Otis Hill? He was 6'8" tops but seemed like he was 7'0
-They thought Walters could guard wallace...really
-Z sims is one of my all time favorites.

Pearl maybe since it was a half court shot but there's no comparison between a Sweet 16 buzzer beater and one from a relatively meaningless regular season game.

Except... Cipola didn't win the game. He tied it.

J-Dub's running, leaning "3" (which was actually a 2, as his foot was on the line - not that it mattered) was the game winner.

Except that jdub's shot wouldnt have happened if cipola missed his. And cippola's shot was literally a buzzer beater, he knew if he missed that shot the season was over. Wallace even said he pulled up and shot it quick to give them time to get rebound if he missed. Cippola shot was more clutch.
