One game after earning the praise of Jim Boeheim for playing aggressively on offense, SG Brandon Triche didn’t look for his shot much against Albany. Triche took just six shots and finished with six points. The Orange need Triche to be more consistent when they start playing tougher competition, or he could lose minutes to the emerging Dion Waiters . Orange RapidReports

No actually I think he's played well these past couple games. He had 5 assists tonight. They shared the ball better. He was on the receiving end of that dunk. If anything, Brandon and Scoop may start splitting time at point again while Dion gets the most minutes. MCW will stay in the mix because he brings 5 minutes of mayhem to the defense and he can finish on the break fairly well for a young guy who runs like Bambi at this point. He's going to turn into a grey hound in time, but he can still contribute this year.

...agreed with all of above...don't see BT losing time...and think each will play according to their game that night...which is good for the team

The best back court combination looks like Triche at PG and Waiters at SG. I think Scoop could be the man in trouble.

Curiously the BT/DW combo really seems to play well together while the BT/Scoop combo - not so much. I think we know what we have in Brandon. Kids will be up and down performers. I dont think Jimmy will significantly alter his approach to handing out playing time based on a one game performance of a veteran.

JB will continue to start Triche and Scoop, and whoever is playing worse (or makes a boneheaded play) will be pulled for Waiters. Knowing Scoop, he will probably make the first boneheaded play.

I'm very convinced that you can't win a national championship with Scoop and Triche as your go-to guys. I know lots of people will disagree but i've seen enough to form my opinion. Short of sh!tcanning them both (which would be wrong), the only way to shrink their minutes with plausible deniability is to run everyone into the ground pressing like crazy.

speed up the game, more possessions, more minutes to go around to your better guards on the bench. we have depth among shot blockers who can all run now, don't have to worry as much about teams breaking the press.

make the game frantic, everyone gets their shots and everyone will be so tired that they won't want to play 40

famous last words, I know - this is a dream, and in the end, we'll go 7 deep with a bunch of malcontents and the season will end with scoop doing something really dumb

...havent seen Scoop in on the press as much as the other 3...for me; something appears wrong with Scoop...seems slow and out of sorts on court...even enthusiasm for drive and +1 does not elicit his usual positive reaction...any word on Scoop's physical condition?

I agree with this.

They're both at risk of losing time, but Scoop is more likely to make a bone headed play that p*sses JB off.

I follow the cbscuse twitter handle... i was very close to unfollowing because of this tweet.

The guy must not be watching the games. and his opinion is certainly not up to par with 75% of our boards poster's.

He is a 'journalist' but there is no factual basis behind this. no quote from a coach or a player. it is nothing more than forum blodder.

Totally agree, this is garbage. It's the 3rd -ing game of the year, and they've played 3 cupcakes. How can you base anything of substance off these games?

The comment from above about Scoop looking slow is funny ... he IS. So is
Brandon, compared to Dion, who's got phenomenal athletic ability.

But seriously, I don't see much to worry about. There are four guards with
different strengths, and all will be needed. As Jimmy says, the ones playing
the best will play. For all the picking on of Scoop, I'd settle for his exact
stats from last year minus one big turnover per game and minus two bad
shots per game. As explosive as Dion is, I'm not ready to say he's going to
make better decisions than Scoop does. He's far more talented, that's
for certain, but I'm not ready to say his brainfart capability has decreased
substantially yet. I would hope that with all the playing Scoop did over
the summer and the camps, that his has.

If we want a shot at a title...let Waiters and MCW figure things out and play a lot of minutes. Triche/Scoop both playing 25+ mins a night does not a championship team make. MCW and Waiters have much higher ceilings.

Let the season develop and we'll see how it unfolds and it may be just me but the drama from this kind stuff gets on my nerves.

I really don't agree. I think all 4 will play and MWC getting the short end of the stick. My only concern is that sometimes it is hard to get into the flow of the game not getting a lot of minutes. Hopefully that won't be an issue but I would think BT being streaky might have a hard time getting going some days

Four guys last night with four or more assists - eight guys with 6 or more points...who cares who starts and who gets the most PT when we have balance like this?

If the guys buy into it - meaning they give their all when they are on the court and don't sulk when they are off of it - this could be a really special year.

So far I am very impressed with what I have seen (despite a couple of Scoop's passes :))

I agree about all four playing, but I think by the time we're to the half way point of the conference season, MCW will be getting 15-20 minutes per game.

Neither Scoop nor Triche are our "go to" guys on this team. We need them both in the rotation, we need them to be productive, to share the ball, and be 10 PPG type scorers, like they were last year. That's all. Avoid the stupid turnovers, get the ball to the open man, don't be selfish and try to force your offense when it isn't there, and make your foul shots.

Do that and we will go a long way this year.
