The first year all three leagues existed was 1903, so i decided to start there. The format I chose was an 8 team playoff, consisting to the three pennant winners, (the pennant winner being the team in each league with the best winning percentage: I ignored divisions), and five "at large" teams based on winning percentage. Ties were to be broken by position in the league standings, head-to-head if I had it,run differential if I had it, who hadn't been in the playoffs in the longest and if it was still a ti,e how far they actually went in any playoffs. For years when there was no AA, I looked at the teams that would likely have been in one and which had the highest winning percentage as the pennant winner. I have no way of knowing who would have won such a playoff. I just wanted to see who would be in it and how often each city would have had a playoff team.
