If anyone other than Richardson committed the bone headed mistakes he did tonight ,coach would have gone Raiden on him .

Apparently Richardson must be handled with gloves made out of charm in because I didn't see coach so much as bat an eyelash at him

That's why i said Jim was acting a bit off tonight, relative to status quo. Not "checked out" like he didn't care, but he didn't seem fiery towards our guys like usual with the quick triggers. Not saying it's a bad thing.

Although I said about 162663 times that Richardson needed to stop driving.

Apparently when JB doesn't yell and scream at players (and gets criticized for it here) he is disinterested. Why he didn't even pull Howard for shooting a floater!

Richardson took maybe 2 questionable jumpshots -- he drove to the basket and tried to get fouls called. He was fine, you have to go at the bigs and dare them to make a play without fouling.

I was somewhat interested if Howard was going to take a quick trip to the bench for that shot.

Wait, what did Richardson do that was so bad? The sweet steal and dunk that brought the game within one possession?

That was sweet! It was a nice turnaround after a subpar performance.

Would anyone be interested in taking a shot at - JB's Doghouse - through the years?

JB's bench options are limited, so he is going to roll with his best players unless forced to do otherwise by injury or foul trouble. Simple as that.

I thought Richardson made one too many wild, ill-advised drives into UNC's shot blockers. His out of control drives sometimes have resulted in bailout foul calls. Not tonight. He needs to develop a floater or jump stop. I also think he will finish better next year when he puts on some muscle.

I mean, I feel like all year Mali has been our best at getting by his man and drawing a foul and getting to the line. You have to love the aggressiveness; it wasn't pretty but on a night that our 3's weren't falling, you have to attack the rim and make the refs call a foul.

He doesn't elevate well. I agree he needs to come up with a good in-between shot.

I love aggression. I'm hoping for controlled aggression with a plan. Malachi goes in there off balance with no clue what he's going to do.

Ya, he's Kris Josephing some drives of late.

Really like what he brings to the table, but it's a roll of the dice to drive when the only possible positive result is a bailout whistle.

Im not saying to pull him. Im just saying that most players on the team get Bear vs Leo treatment when they make bone headed plays. Malachi does whatever he wants without any public reprimand. wonder what his deal is that he gets this special treatment.

You and I were watching different games.

I think he's jumping too far out or jumping forward, not up. He's trying to draw the foul rather than trying to score with/through contact. His shots come from his waist and he sort of is flailing his arms through traffic rather than getting the ball high and trying to absorb contact.

I love the aggressiveness, and I think the dribble drive is not only good but necessary if we're not going to feed the low posts. I like the KJo comparison except that he was always elevating and putting a knee in someone's chest, as they slid under him, wasn't he?

Something in between the two would be ideal, and yes a pull up jumper would be good too. What are his hops like? On the break away dunk (admittedly on tired legs) he didn't get over the rim by much.

Malichai has been doing the same boneheaded plays all season. We have lived and died by him. Lately, dying.

If he had missed...

I was surprised JB left him in after he missed the layup with 10 seconds on the shot clock and 14 seconds on game clock just before half.

Wasn't that the play they called a charge on him? JB realized that was the worst call of the night up to that point I believe.
