I thought that was the turning point of the game. And a terrible call. What I want to know is why didn't Babers go crazy on the sideline protesting. From my limited screen he did not seem to object to the call. Certainly seem forward progress had been stopped and the play should have been whistled dead.

It would look bad for the University if he showed that kind of passion.

They're not going to review a play to call forward progress that wasn't called on the field. It was clear the ball came out, so the only thing that would have been reviewable there is if he was close to being down by contact.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. If your not going to work the refs, they will take that as a sign of weakness and all the calls will go against you, which they do.
He was talking to refs frequently throughout the game.

The truth is you've made up your mind about him. Nothing he does from here on will be right to you. He could get UMass into the B1G and you'd somehow find fault in it.

Yes he chats with them. I see Saban, Kelly, Sweeney and others flat out imposing their will on them. That is what it takes in this game.

Have you ever officiated anything? Are you speaking from experience as a ref? Or are you speculating as an armchair quarterback? Because speaking as someone who has reffed a lot - different sport - I can tell you this is not true.

Then to what do you attribute the fact that virtually every single close call goes against Syracuse? Like the play where Morgan extended the ball over the goal line. It is inconceivable from where he was on the field and the length of his arm and his intent to break the goal line that he didn't. Happens repeatedly. every year.

I think when you are more demonstrative on a really obvious bad call, it may embarrass the crew, and you may get a makeup call.

It definitely feels like we rarely, if ever, get a close call.

On the play where Jurkovic’s knee touched down before the throw, the refs reviewed and got it right. Did Babers work the refs? Did the BC coach? This whole working the refs concept is overblown by fans - and a few coaches.

Oh, my bad. I didn't realize he was checking up on their families and making dinner plans. I'll pay closer attention next time.

And there was another bad call that I don't think anyone has talked about. I think it was in the first half when Jurkovic pump faked, pulled the back then went to throw again, seemed to stop throwing motion again and then the ball popped out. They called it a forward pass but to me it clearly looked like a fumble. To me clearly was not throwing, as his throwing motion had completely stopped. I don't know how that was not a fumble. Again no apparent protest from the Dino.

The truth is we suck goat testicles once again and any slight advantage Dino can take to get a mythical win, he should be taking.

Mark Packer of the ACC Network tweeted out that he thought it was a bad call. Tucker fumbled after forward progress and the play should have been whistled dead when BC pushed him back. He fumbled as they were pushing him back.

It doesn't matter if he intended to throw. All that matters is that his arm was moving forward when the ball came out, no different than when a guy gets his arm hit during his throwing motion but prior to his release. If the arm is moving forward, it's an incomplete pass. His arm was moving forward. It was the right call.

What advantage are you referring to?

I have in years of coaching that refs all over do indeed cave to the will of the over bearing coach.. now sometimes they spite the coach and sometimes they reward the coach but they all listen in some way and most of the time the refs are more worked up than the coaches.

Agree. I thought forward progress should have been called on the Tucker run but I didn't have an issue with this call after seeing the replay.

In football yes. Maybe you work in a holding call by telling them to pay attention to a certain player. But that's probably about it.

In basketball, I think it's real, and it's spectacular (sometimes).
