Compared to last year's grueling winter, this year has been a comparative cakewalk.

Take Syracuse, N.Y. for example. By last December 18, Syracuse had picked up a whopping 71.7 inches (almost 6 feet) of snow, while this season has only seen a paltry 1.7 inches of snow. The average season-to-date snow is around 28 inches, putting Syracuse at a deficit of more than 26 inches.

Those numbers illustrate the vast difference of snow between the last two years, but why is this year lacking so much snow?

LOL. I last lived in Syracuse in 2003 and they were talking about this then, too. Of course, the same thing happens in Buffalo. What is it about Upstate New York that makes it impossible to get anything done?
