Regarding the 'Tim Green contacted about open SU football coach spot' -

I'd be curious to hear the actual content of the conversation that took place between TGD and Green, because there's noooooooo way a guy with a couple seasons of high school football coaching experience was going to be hired as the new head coach.

He may have called to get Greens thoughts about the search.

He may have called to get Greens thoughts about the search.

That's what I was thinking at first, too, but the article includes this:
Green indicated that he would coach his alma mater if he had a "clone," or "another lifetime to do it in."

Like I said, I'm just curious exactly what was said. I wouldn't doubt that Green's words might have been unintentionally twisted a little bit in the article.
As somebody who delivered a bunch of copies of The Citizen in my youth, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

I'd be curious as what DM said about John Anselmo as Head Coach Material, and why he's not in this discussion.

Tim may have just meant he'd love to coach but as he said couldn't unless he was a cylon. I don't read it as Gross asking as much as Green saying he'd love to but can't but wishes he could. I'm giving the benefit of doubt as well and imo it was a call for information and I'm annoyed I never received such a call!

leo roth's second to last paragraph

"All he needs to do is not punt in four-down territory, give C.J. Spiller more than 12 carries a game, not botch the clock in the two-minute drill and field a defense that doesn’t challenge the team record for most points allowed every year and they’ll nominate him for Canton."

first thing he mentions is the punting. bills fans are sensitive about this stuff. gregg williams nail in the coffin was a punt at the 35. gailey was terrible on this stuff. insert gratuitous 32 yard line reference here

The writer from the Citizen, Ben Meyers, is confused and assuming "that Syracuse University contacted" meant about taking the job. We know, all too well, the criteria to be a head coach at SU. Tim Green was consulted, as he was in 2009 for his input on how best to fill the vacancy. Go to 16:25 of the video below

He's approaching retirement age, as I understand it.

It would be great if he stayed around another year or two not just to coach but to also maintain his NYC connections since the other half of the NYC duo is gone. Help the new HC build those relations some more.
