ACC Players Looking to Rebound in 2014 Include AAM of Syracuse (Football.com; Phifer)

Syracuse running back Adonis Ameen-Moore is the only player on this list whose rough 2013 season was not due to injury. Ameen-Moore was a key part of Syracuse's "Tank" offense in 2012. As a large running back, Ameen-Moore used his size to bust through the center for tough yardage, especially in short-yardage situations. Ameen-Moore got lost deep in the depth chart in 2013 when George McDonald III and Devantae McFarlane entered the picture behind Jerome Smith and Prince Tyson-Gulley. Head coach Scott Schaefer told reporters he has liked what Ameen-Moore has shown so far in spring practice, so he may be making a spot for himself in the lineup in 2014.

PA Safety Jay Stocker Wants to Hear from Ohio State (Eleven Warriors; Wagner)

Four-star prospect. Double digit offer list. Grew up a Buckeye fan. What's not to like? Several prospects that fit the description lack Ohio State offers.

C.J. Conrad, a tight end prospect from Keystone High School in Ohio, is one such prospect. Perhaps a new name for some recruitniks, Jay Stocker fits the description as well. In spite of an impressive resume, Stocker has no offer.

Stocker is a 6-foot-3, 195 pound safety considered to be one of the top prospects from Pennsylvania in 2015. 247Sports rates him as the 213th overall prospect in the entire nation, which makes him the ninth-rated safety. Other services rate him as a high three-star prospect.

Stocker reports offers from Connecticut, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse Temple, Villanova, Virginia and Wisconsin. Many other schools are showing interest, including Penn State. Jay told 11W that Boston College or Vanderbilt could be schools that would soon offer.

It's still early in the process and having offers from at least a dozen schools is a good start to the process. Jay agrees. "Recruiting is going great," said the content four-star prospect. However, it's no secret that he would like to hear from Ohio State.

Miami of Ohio PG Quinten Rollins to Play Football for Redhawks (theMiamiStudent.net; Downey)

Rollins has spent the last four seasons playing point guard for Miami basketball, but will be playing football for head coach Chuck Martin next season. Rollins will play cornerback for the RedHawks.

It’ll be a new experience for Rollins, who hasn’t played football since his senior year of high school.

“I’m gonna give it a try,” Rollins said. “I played in high school, but the difference between college in high school are two totally different games. I know it is for basketball and I can only imagine what it is for football.”

Rollins has a year of eligibility remaining and said he was open to playing football. Martin said director of basketball operations Sean Mock called him to see if there was any interest from Martin’s side. There was, and once Martin watched some tape of Rollins from high school and talked with him it was a done deal. Martin said this has been planned for about two months.

Martin said he doesn’t have many expectations for Rollins just one day into spring practice.

“Nothing really, we’ll just see,” Martin said. “He’s a ridiculous athlete. His skill set is good enough to play college football. But he hasn’t played since high school and he played mostly offense, now he’s playing corner. So really nothing. We just told him to come out here and enjoy it and get comfortable and get coached up and kinda of walk before you run so we’ll see how it goes. Hopefully he can start to figure it out and become a pretty good player for us.”

CBA and Henninger Will Open 2014 HS Football Season at the Carrier Dome PS; Webb)

And if Section III wanted to create maximum buzz and momentum for the 2014 football season, it went right to the sweet spot by getting CBA and Henninger to start things off.

CBA defeated Henninger twice last season, but it was the Brothers' 19-14 victory in the sectional title game at the Dome that was as special as it was physical. The Brothers lost four starters in the process and were beaten by Elmira in the state playoffs a week later. Multiple coaches said the Henninger-CBA game was one of the hardest hitting, most physical games they'd ever witnessed.
