CJ, BMK and Rak Celebrate SU Graduation (PS; Ditota)
Among the hundreds of graduates Syracuse University bestowed degrees upon last weekend, three tall young men were conspicuous participants.
C.J. Fair and Baye Moussa Keita finished their four-year Syracuse basketball careers in March and wore caps and gowns to graduation ceremonies over the weekend. Rakeem Christmas completed most of his degree requirements in three years and walked with the Syracuse seniors. Christmas will play his final season for Syracuse in 2014-15 as a graduate student.

CJ, JG and TE Earn Invites to NBA Combine This Week (PS; Ditota)
Three Syracuse players will participate in the NBA's annual pre-draft combine, which starts Wednesday in Chicago.
Tyler Ennis and Jerami Grant, Syracuse's two early-entry candidates, plus four-year forward C.J. Fair are expected at the event; Draft Express released the roster of invited players earlier today. During the five-day affair, players will be measured, put through physical tests and interviewed by NBA teams.
Ennis, in a brief conversation about 10 days ago outside the Melo Center, said he was "keeping a low profile" and working out in preparation for the combine. Both Ennis and Grant had spent time these past few weeks on the SU campus finishing classroom obligations (including final exams) and working out in the weight room with SU strength and conditioning coach Ryan Cabiles.

#5: 1995-96 Team Went on a Magical Run to Get to NCAA Title Game (PS; Waters)
NO. 5: 1995-96 TEAM
Overall record: 29-9
Conference record (finish): 12-6 (2nd in Big East 7 division)
Postseason: Lost to Kentucky NCAA tournament championship game
Best player: John Wallace
As a senior, John Wallace had one of the finest seasons in Syracuse history. He averaged team-highs in both scoring (22.2 points per game) and rebounding (8.7).
What most people forget about Wallace that year is that he improved so much even though he was already very good as a junior. Wallace increased his scoring average by 5.4 points per game. That's a huge leap for someone who averaged 16.8 points per game as a junior. His rebounding went up slightly.
And Wallace, who attempted just 14 3-point shots as a junior, went 37-for-88 from beyond the arc as a senior. That's a .420 shooting percentage. Wallace also had a career-high 90 assists in his senior year.

#6: 1989-90 Team Included Derrick Coleman, Billy Owens and Stevie Thompson (PS; Waters)
NO. 6: 1989-90 TEAM
Overall record: 26-7
Conference record (finish): 12-4 (tie 1st in Big East)
Postseason: Lost to Minnesota NCAA tournament's Sweet 16
Best player: Derrick Coleman
Billy Owens, a sophomore, led Syracuse in scoring during the 1989-90 season. Owens averaged 18.2 points per game. He led the team in steals. He also very nearly led Syracuse in assists. But I've got to go with Derrick Coleman.
Coleman was a force at both ends of the floor. He averaged 17.9 points per game and a team-high 12.1 rebounds per game. The 12.1 average was the highest rebounding figure for a Syracuse player since Rudy Hackett (12.6 in 1975) and no Syracuse player has approached it since. And here's something one might not expect. Coleman was 15-for-41 (36.6 percent) from 3-point range as a senior.

Bella Bella Brandon! BT's Team Advances to Playoff Semis in Italy (PS; Ditota)
Brandon Triche's 18 points and seven rebounds last Saturday helped his Aquila Trento basketball team defeat Agrigento 79-73 to advance in the Italian professional league playoffs.
Trento, which swept Agrigento in the quarterfinals, now faces Turin Saturday to start the semifinals.
Triche averaged 17 points and 4.3 rebounds during the first round of the playoffs. Last week, he answered a few questions about his first year as an Italian professional:
DD: I'm curious about how much point guard, how much shooting guard you've played or if it matters that much over there?
BT: I do not play much point guard because there are two smaller guards on my team that are good at that position. I primarily play shooting guard but have the ball a lot to play-make.

Brandon Reese Will Coach in Kuwait This Summer (PS; Waters)
Brandon Reese, the former Syracuse University walk-on, is going to be working at a basketball camp this summer.
That's not unusual. It's common for coaches, assistant coaches, players and former players to work at camps throughout the summer months.
What Reese is doing; however, is far from the usual.
Reese, who played at Syracuse from 2009 to 2012, will be working at a basketball camp in Kuwait this summer. Reese will be in Kuwait City for three weeks in June. After a month-long break, Reese will return for an 18-week stretch beginning in August.
