OL Evan Adams Discusses Reasoning Behind Verbal to Syracuse (PS; Bailey)
...
"It felt like home there," Adams said, "like I could succeed there and make a name for myself. Not just leave Syracuse as a football player, but as an educated person.
"It made me feel like I could make myself a better person there."
Adams, who verbally committed to Syracuse on Thursday on his way back from visiting Maryland, credited the family feel, close-knit coaching staff and academic emphasis as the reasoning behind his decision. A rising senior at Norwalk (Conn.) High School, Adams is the fourth offensive lineman to commit to the Orange in the Class of 2015.
After his visit, Adams called SU offensive line coach Joe Adam the "game changer" and the academic prominence "the icing on the cake" as that appeased his mother, Alisa Adams.

SU Football Camp Roundup: At Least 2 Offers Out, Including One to Darnell Savage of Delaware (PS; Mink)
Darnell Savage (7)
Koby Quansah (15)
Also Offered Connecticut LB Koby Quansah
...
Caravel (Del.) athlete Darnell Savage is part of the 2015 recruiting class and recently picked up an offer from Rutgers in addition to Syracuse, his high school coach, John Reed, said.
Savage, 5-foot-10, 172 pounds, ran a hand-timed 40-yard dash in 4.38 seconds at SU's camp, according to Reed.
"They put it out there they're all in with him," Reed said of the offer. "He's their guy."
Reed said Savage is not close to making a decision and indicated he may attend an upcoming camp at Penn State and is scheduled to participate in a national 7-on-7 tournament in Florida this coming weekend.
Multiple recruiting sites also say Syracuse offered Koby Quansah, a class of 2016 linebacker prospect from Connecticut. Rutgers and Rhode Island are the other offers listed for the 6-foot, 200-pound Quansah.

Six ACC Schools Thriving on the Recruiting Trail (RantSports; Kelley)
After ACC teams won two BCS bowl games last year, including the Florida State Seminoles’ BCS title, it is clear that the league is moving up the hierarchy of power conferences. ACC teams are now carrying the momentum born from that on-the-field success to the recruiting trail.
There are currently six ACC teams in the top 30 of 247 Sports’ recruiting rankings and a couple may surprise you.

Biggest Reason the SU Football Team Should be Optimistic About the 2014 Season: Experience (PS; Carlson)
Syracuse head coach Scott Shafer is outwardly optimistic about the upcoming football season, saying the Orange is looking to win at least eight games in 2014.
It's a better record than Syracuse had last year and a better record than most national publications predict.
The reasons for his belief are fairly well-chronicled. Shafer and his coaching staff areentering Year 2 at SU. Terrell Hunt offers an experienced option at quarterback. The group of incoming wide receivers is enticing.
The biggest reason to expect Syracuse to improve, however, is much more mundane.
The Orange returns one of the most veteran teams in the country, returning experience across its depth chart.

Who Does Cal Dream of Playing OOC in Football? Syracuse! (californiagoldenblogs.com)
Nick Kranz: My dream non-conference matchup would be against a team that I would really want to visit when Cal plays them on the road, and that would bring a festive atmosphere at Memorial Stadium. There are probably a few different teams that fit that profile, but I'll go with LSU. The Tigers obviously bring cachet as a national power. The contrast in culture between the fans of both programs would be fun. And when Cal plays in Death Valley you could visit New Orleans, which is about an hour outside Baton Rouge.
atomsareenough: Syracuse!!! We've played them a lot in basketball recently, which makes me happy (though I wish we'd win one against them for a change), but we haven't played them in football recently. They're a major conference team, they've been decent-ish lately, but they're still beatable. Really we should be playing at least one beatable major conference team per year. We've kind of been doing that with teams like Maryland and Northwestern and Minnesota, but the problem is that we haven't ourselves been good in recent years, so we haven't really been taking full advantage of the opportunity. But yeah, Syracuse. Having gone to 'Cuse for grad school, it's always a no-lose proposition for me when we play them (though I always root for Cal, if we lose to Syracuse it takes the edge off slightly compared to other losses). Two great tastes that taste great together!

Jay Bromley Signs Contract with Giants (PS; Mink)
Former Syracuse defensive tackle Jay Bromley, a third-round draft pick, signed with the New York Giants, the team announced Monday.
Bromley was the last of New York's seven draft picks to sign. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Bromley, 6-foot-4, 307 pounds is expected to compete for playing time in the Giants defensive line rotation this season. As a senior at Syracuse, he led the team with 14.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks.
When the Giants drafted Bromley, the team envisioned him putting on weight to play at 315-320 pounds. To put that in perspective, Bromley played his senior season at 296 pounds and performed at the combine near 307 pounds, a little more than what he weighs now.
