Boom from the West: Ohio Safety Marquise Blair Verbals to Syracuse (PS; Mink)
Syracuse picked up a verbal commitment from Wooster High School safety Marquise Blair, the 15th player to orally commit to the 2015 class.
Blair confirmed his decision with syracuse.com on Monday morning.
A 6-foot-3, 180-pounder from Ohio, Blair is the first safety to commit to Syracuse this cycle and continues a strong run of recruiting for the coaching staff this month.
Purdue is the only other equity conference offer listed for Blair, who recently visited Syracuse.

Speedy Florida LB Sawyer Dawson Has Syracuse on Top with Visit to Purdue Wednesday (PS; Bailey)
Linebacker Sawyer Dawson has narrowed his list of potential collegiate destinations to two — Syracuse and Purdue — after an unofficial visit to SU on Friday. And the Orange is in front.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Plant City (Fla.) High School junior will visit Purdue on Wednesday.
"I really like Syracuse, so it's definitely my top school," Dawson said. "I'm checking out Purdue on the 25th, and I should be making a decision shortly after."

Shyheim Cullen Discusses Reasoning Behind His Verbal Commitment to Syracuse (PS; Bailey)
Shyheim Cullen knew if he waited to commit until the fall or early winter, more offers could be on the table. Miami, Boston College, Temple and Rutgers had all shown interest in the Lowell (Mass.) High School linebacker, but Syracuse was the only program to offer.
Every other school said they wanted to wait. They wanted to see him on the field as a senior, he said.
"Most of them came to me late and wanted to see my senior highlight film," Cullen said. "The thing with Syracuse is they instantly thought that I would be a great athlete for their program."
That didn't change during Cullen's unofficial visit to Syracuse on Saturday, as he verbally committed to the Orange by the end of it.

Top SU Target NJ S Daiquan Kelly Releases Top 4 Schools, Plans to Visit SU Soon (PS; Mink)
There might not be a higher rated safety on Syracuse's 2015 recruiting board than Union City (N.J.)'s Daiquan Kelly, and the staff is expected to get its second chance to solidify its standing with him this weekend.
Kelly released a list of the top four schools he's currently considering, and Syracuse was included in the group. The three-star safety, one of the best prospects in a deep pool from New Jersey, said he is scheduled to visit Syracuse this Sunday. It would be the second on-campus visit for Kelly in the last two months.
He said he was looking for "the same thing" he saw when he last visited Syracuse during the spring game.

Scott Shafer Says 17 Verbals in 2015 Recruiting Class (PS; Mink)
Syracusefan.com Speculation is that the Silent Verbal is From New Jersey
Diehard Syracuse football followers know 15 players have verbally committed to the 2015 recruiting class.
But head coach Scott Shafer said Monday the number of players in the class is even higher.
Serving as host for 90 minutes during ESPN radio's "celebrity week," Shafer said 17 players are currently part of 2015 class. In addition to the 15 known commitments, one iscornerback Lamar Dawson, a 2014 signee who is deferring his enrollment until January. The other player is a silent verbal, according to a source. This means the player has informed the staff he plans to sign with the program but has not made that decision public.

#CuseTwitterArmy: Scott Shafer Doesn't See Anything Wrong with Fans Recruiting on Twitter (PS; Bailey)
Fans interacting with football recruits has grown to be a highly debated issue this cycle. Anyone who follows Syracuse and its recruiting efforts on Twitter sees these occurrences daily. Some support it. Others ridicule it publicly.
Syracuse head coach Scott Shafer addressed the issue while kicking off ESPN radio's celebrity week on Monday.
"If they're out there encouraging people to come to Syracuse, I don't see anything wrong with that. I don't think it's one of those situations that it's harmful."
Shafer discussed the use of Twitter at length midway through his 90-minute segment, noting its effect on recruiting, his current players and his life as a coach. He said he's made an effort to bridge the gap between his generation and his players, creating a Twitter account and seeing firsthand how recruits are addressed on social media.

Syracuse Indoor Practice Facility Should be Ready for Bowl Game Practices (PS; Mink)
Syracuse is targeting an early December completion date for its new indoor practice facility, head football coach Scott Shafer said on local radio Monday afternoon.
Shafer kicked off ESPN radio's "celebrity week" earlier today and informed listeners the school is "shooting for December 1" with regards to finishing the $13 million indoor facility.
Several recruits have visited campus throughout June, and the staff has shared the renderings and details of the facility with them, including that timeframe. Shafer said Monday watching the facility go up in the coming months will be viewed as "a sign of progress" for the program.
The project was first announced last year, but the university only recently cleared the final legal hurdle needed to prepare the site for construction.
The facility primarily will serve the football team but also will host other sports, including men's and women's lacrosse.

Lunchtime Links (ESPN; Hale)
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel talked with Miami tailback Duke Johnson, who said he “feels 100 percent” after a devastating ankle injury suffered against Florida State last season that cost him the final five games of the season.
That’s good news for Miami fans, of course, although Johnson said he’s still toying with future rehab plans to help build strength in the ankle.
It goes without saying that Johnson is an integral part of the Hurricanes’ 2014 hopes, and perhaps no other offensive player in the ACC is as important to his team.
While healthy last season, Johnson accounted for 27 percent of Miami’s total offense and 58 percent of its rushing yards. Only Heisman finalist Andre Williams accounted for a higher percentage of his team’s rushing yards in the ACC.
