The pass interference call against Franklin in the first half that gifted them the touchdown. And the chop block call on the running back on the touchdown pass. I didn't think either were close to correct. The block was to the player's thigh, and he was facing the blocker.

I have always understood the chop block rule to be intended to protect against guys going after the defensive players' knees mostly from the side at the end of the line, not in the middle of the line.

Those 2 calls were the game. Nice job by Mahoney. He wasn't the greatest in the pocket, but he made a handful of big throws and I thought the use of the Wildcat formation in the second half gave us some life in the running game. Tough loss. We really could have used this one. I would hate to see this team finish at 4-8, because they are so much better than that.

How about the fumble that was called an incomplete pass while Franklin was motoring toward the goal line with the ball.

Yep. They were the better team today, but with those calls we had a chance.

Highway robbery! That was a fumble!

Just terrible officiating all over tonight, these guys can't do it.

The Michigan game would be a travesty if not for review, but these are calls that shouldn't need review. Now some dumb-fukk 60 year old ref flags the wrong guy (Iowa, not Michigan) for unsportsmanlike and changes the game.

We need robots or something. These are just not smart people

(disclosure: when I've officiated games on a volunteer basis I've always been perfect :)

The pass interference was in front of me, but across the field. But I had clear vision of lack of contact. They were fooled by the fact that he had his back to the ball. But he never touched the receiver until the ball reached his hands at which time he punched it out. No other contact at all. It was horrible.

I'm on that side and had a good view. Any contact was as the ball got there and probably out of bounds, so a catch would not have counted.

Nah that was not a fumble he bobbling the ball the whole time. Rest I agree with.

I Know Park and Gedney couldn't believe it.

Same visual as mine. No friggin' contact until the ball was in the receiver's arms. Terrible, terrible call!
