The pass interference call against Franklin in the first half that gifted them the touchdown. And the chop block call on the running back on the touchdown pass. I didn't think either were close to correct. The block was to the player's thigh, and he was facing the blocker.
I have always understood the chop block rule to be intended to protect against guys going after the defensive players' knees mostly from the side at the end of the line, not in the middle of the line.
Those 2 calls were the game. Nice job by Mahoney. He wasn't the greatest in the pocket, but he made a handful of big throws and I thought the use of the Wildcat formation in the second half gave us some life in the running game. Tough loss. We really could have used this one. I would hate to see this team finish at 4-8, because they are so much better than that.
