Two Dozen National Championships

Tonight at 7PM on ESPNU, (channel 370 on Time-Warner Syracuse), Mount Union will play St. Thomas for the NCAA Division 3 championship. If they win the Purple Raider will win their 12th national championship, all in D3: 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 200, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2012.

At 8PM in ESPN 2 the North Dakota State Bison, who already have 12 national championships: 1965, 1968, 1969, (by polls for all small colleges), 1983, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1990, (Division 2) and 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014, (FCS), will play Richmond in and FCS semifinal.

If Mount Union wins tonight, then by watching these games, you will have seen two schools who each have won a dozen national championships.

Well, Mount Union won their 12th national championship 49-35 over St. Thomas after falling behind 0-14 and North Dakota State stepped on the Richmond Spiders 33-7 and will get a shot at their 13th title at Noon on January 9th on ESPN.
