So having had 24 hours to cool off, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m pretty ok with where we are at now. Would I have preferred 6-0 and top 10? There is a part of me that we didn’t beat Clemson because that would have increased the chance of a name program stealing away Babers before we really see his vision in action... but admittedly that’s a pretty small part of me.

Yes the loss yesterday sucks, but you know what, I don’t think Pitt is that bad. Anyone else think UCF might be that good? Anyways, rivalry game, on the road... it’s never going to be an easy win.

I know a lot of folks are down on the offense and defense coordinators right now but I’m actually pretty happy with them. The defense was in great position to stop Pitt yesterday but the players couldn’t make plays. Coaches can only do so much... the last mile is up to the players. On offense it’s the same story... for as great of a football player as Dungey is, he missed potential game winning plays both last week and this week. He’s the same instinctual player he has been for 4 years... unfortunately while he is physically impressive player I don’t think he’s progressed at all in terms of being.a passing qb. My guess is Babers knows this and schemes the offense around Dungey and that is why we see so little variety and we don’t use the middle of the field. Babers is trying to do what he can to give his guys the best shot to win. I think next year we see the real Babers O.

In the long run the success of this program is going to come down to whether Babers can recruit ACC talent on the lines and LB. I think Babers is trying to figure that out in the long run as well. I don’t think we see a Babers extension this year because Babers isn’t going to sign one. I think he waits to see how recruiting goes and if I had to bet I’d say he walks at the end of next year. That’s just my bet based on gut and nothing else.

All I can say is that it feels good to be a team that any coach outside of saban would lose sleep over playing. We haven’t been able to say that since Marrone’s last year. I am just going to enjoy the ride this year and next and see what happens. Back in my younger days I needed cuse sports to be good and for the most part they were. Now I have more stuff in my life going on and that lets me just enjoy the wins and not care about the losses. So my advice is if you can enjoy the ride.

So, if he can't recruit, he quits?? I don't get that at all.

Yeah... if he can’t get what he thinks he needs to recruit the players he needs, why would he stay? For better or for worse Babers will get other opportunities if he chooses to leave the Orange. There are plenty of other peer programs with better recruiting areas near them.

SU recruits FL, Texas, up and down the Atlantic Coast, the mid-West. Proximity has nothing to do with nothing. If your team improves, you will get recruits. You don't have to be next door to get a recruit. If the team is not improving, that will hurt recruiting.

UNC is Syracuse South, they're just waiting for hoop season to start as well.

NCSU is settled for a good while.
Eh that’s on unc... they hire Babers and he would kill it there with their resources

He’s not going to go to a worse ACC program.

Or anywhere, IMO.

The team has improved because of Babers and his scheme. But the talent hasn’t caught up. Babers seems to be able to get skinny fast guys and some decent oline men but I’m not seeing a ton of dline or lb types or running backs for some reason. We definitely seem to have holes in our recruiting.

My main paint on recruiting though is teams aren’t going to blame Babers if recruiting doesn’t work out here they will blame the school.

I like the direction of our recruiting. just look at cisco and trill. I have no doubt dino can recruit, i have questioned his in game decisions with making adjustments. More units are improved than have regressed. if the timing was such that we had this OL and DL last year , this team would have been a force.

the wrs are a bigger problem and it isn't getting better at the halfway mark. Butler was key to this unit, prob unfair pressure but he and custis haven't stepped up and the play calling hasnt helped. The backers are the frustrating part. Yea, i know none of use are at practice, but there needs to be a rotation and we need to beef up some of the youngins we have at lb. Most backers college and pro average 6'2, 235. They need to run sideline to sideline and lay the wood. It is asking alot.

Anyplace warm.

If he ever goes anywhere I would guess it's an SEC / Big 12 / PAC 12 school.
Well they need to be interested in him first... but I catch your drift.
