I know people hate the Scoop debate and I do too, but I thought it was interesting that they flashed the stat on the game that SU is first in the country in turnover margin and second in assist:turnover margin. This isn't a direct referendum on Scoop's play -- which obviously can be a bit erratic -- but ultimately you don't reach those levels if your primary ball-handler is not at least pretty solid. I know this won't convert anyone but I think it's another stat that is difficult to explain away (along with the nearly 50% shooting and 2.37:1 assist/TO ratio).

even his biggest critics have to agree the scoop being scoop plays are fewer and much farther between

If you step back and look at scoops complete body of work this season, you get a much better appreciation of the job he has done

I noted that yesterday that all 4 of the guards are better than 2-1 A/T.

Remarkable turnaround. If he played like this 2 years ago we might have won the title (even without AO).

Remarkable turnaround? Um, he did play almost exactly like this two years ago. In fact his scoring, FT % and 3 pt % were all higher -- the latter two remarkably higher (75 to 53 on FT; 39% to 32-ish% on threes).

This is the best he's played as a pure point guard since he's been here. Like you said, the TO's and boneheaded plays are down, and he's doing an awesome job running the offense. He's playing within himself and not forcing as much as he has in the past.

The TOs are actually up .2 per game since 09-10. He forced a bunch last year b/c this team struggled so mightily to score. He makes bone-headed plays on occasion and forces things from time-to-time, but his willingness to take risks are also the reason he makes passes like that alleyoop to Fair and hits big shots. I agree he's a take the good with the bad kind of player, but he's almost identical to the player we had in 09-10 (who was also really good). I don't think he got worse last year, I just think he was forced to try and do more -- which wasn't a great role for him.

Scoop's been money this year. It's time people start recognizing that.

I call them the "What the Scoop" plays. I think there are fewer of them because he realizes that on this team, hedoesn't have to try to do everything himself. Last year his mistakes tended to come when nobody else was doing anything and he felt he had to take over the game.
