Tyler Ennis Discusses Syracuse Visit and Updates Recruitment

Nation of Orange: What are your thoughts on the Syracuse 2/3 zone? Have you played it before?

Tyler Ennis: I've played it here and there. Not a lot, but I know they get a lot of steals off of it. I like that because I like to play in transition.

Thanks for all the articles, updates and info, BleedsOrange44!

Really like how we recruit. Pick the guys we want. Not go after every 5 star. Make guys feel like they are the guy and we aren't interested in others. I think Ennis feels this.

I remember Melo saying part of why he went to Cuse was that we were the first to show him love and made him feel like he was our top priority from go.

Nation of Orange: Do you have a top 5 or any early favorites?

Tyler Ennis: I don't have a top 5 right now, but I would say Syracuse has an edge because it's the only school I've visited.

Nation of Orange: Do you have any other visits planned?

Tyler Ennis: I might be visiting Arizona later this month but it is not set.

Those 2 say alot right there.

Agreed. I get the feeling he's a Syracuse lean right now. He won't say he has a top 5 or any favorites, but then says Syracuse is an edge. He speaks very highly of Syracuse. The Orange want this kid, he's their #1 guard target for 2013. The four going after him the most are Syracuse, Arizona, Louisville, and Georgia Tech. He didn't even mention Louisville in our discussion, so I'm not sure they are really in it. He took his Syracuse visit first which says something. Georgia Tech he didn't comment on much, and he's stated Boeheim and assistants have all been in touch with him (the whole staff). With Arizona, their head coach hasn't been to a game yet. Boeheim has seen him play in person a couple of times.

"No one else gets 33,000 fans. Not even pros get that. So it was good."

Kudos to all of you that were there. Ennis & Noel were duly impressed.

Ennis also said "WE had 33,000" in another interview. Tough to gauge a kid right after a visit when he's all amped but man, you read between the lines, he's saying all the right things.

Thanks for the article. Sounds good so far, like an SU lean at the moment.

The only problem I saw was his top criteria is playing time and here he would likely have to wait at least a year to be the main guy. MCW will be a junior when Ennis arrives. Hard to guarantee Ennis that MCW will be gone by 2014. Other schools may be able to give a more definite answer.

Looks like Arizona will be the big competition because they'll push hard to tell him he would start day 1. Louisville will already have a solid pure PG who will be a sophomore when he is a freshman so I don't see that happening. The big factor may be just when MCW would leave and if they could play together. If his #1 factor is playing time we can't exactly make any promises other than being at least the #3 guard because MCW would be a junior and Cooney a sophomore.

Him saying it looks like he'll be signing early is a good sign. Since he said we have the edge right now with the only visit.

Not trying to say this is the reason. But going from NY to St. Benedict's is easier than going from Arizona to there.

He might not be the main guy as a freshman but unless we sign another guard we would only have Cooney and MCW. He would definitely get good minutes. Right not our guards minutes are 22, 23, 23, and 11 for MCW. In 2013 it would probably something like this unless we sign another guard
MCW 25-30
Cooney 25-30
Ennis 20-25

No doubt. But Ennis may not see it that way. My point was more to suggest that he could feel more loved by SU than Arizona

Well, he can see us playing 3 guards at 22-25 minutes per game right now in a very even rotation, with a 4th guy getting about 10 minutes most games. So to him, the 3 guys will be him, Mike and Cooney. We're in great shape. You can almost book this kid right now.

How big is this kid?

He's listed at 6-2, 180. He looks like a little kid in his profile picture though. He's ESPN's 41st rated kid overall in the Class of 2013, 7th best PG nationally, but best PG in the East.

yeah, he looks small!

He does look small but those pics and videos were probably from when he was a sophmore so he should add some weight by the time he gets to college.

I like that he has really good vision. In the highlight videos a lot of it was assists. Looked like he was comfortable going left and finished with his left hand a few times. Didn't see a lot of jumpshots but his form looked good enough for a PG.
