If he will be expected to be pure 4 and occasional 5 he needs to get stronger. Its not like he is emaciated but he needs more muscle mass. It won't affect his moves inside. If anything it will help him down low

When Tyler and Malachi hit the NBA pre draft camps, I'm sure they will be told that both need to get stronger. Remember that the rules changed this year and most freshmen will declare just to go through the camps and get feedback on where they would or could be drafted.

Perhaps more muscle mass but not to the point of impacting his movement. More neural strength training rather than bodybuilding style hypertrophy training. Just increase that relative strength.

I don't think this is anything new. He's going to be a stretch 4 and sometimes 3 next year and at the next level. I don't expect him to see any time at the 5 next season unless something catastrophic happens, or JB decides to get weird, but this kid could definitely use some muscle. He should be eating like 100 grams of protein per hour.

I will be disappointed if Tyler does not look like this next year.

I agree that Tyler Lydon's best should come at the 4 and I hope that the 5 is in good hands with Chuky and DC, if he returns ,Lydon on one wing with Roberson and or Moyer should be formidable at the very least. I just hope I live long enough to see this.

About this new rule...if I perceive this correctly, the student can declare, tryout and return to the team? What is the time frame when they have to come back? I would assume the school will hold his scholarship until a decision is made.

Does this mean most PLAYERS who are halfway decent will too? I could see several more of our guys doing this, Roberson especially.

If so, I could see the NBA going nuts with all the kids who declare. It will make the camp a zoo, what with the sheer number of kids wanted to be evaluated.

The NBA has this all covered. They plan to contract out the talent evaluation to the many hoops geniuses at syracusefan.com

I wouldn't rule out Lydon at the 5 next year for 10 mins or so when JB wants to spread out the other team. JB likes the option of having him pull the opposing center away from the basket. Heck even Pitino brought it up this week where he said that is what is making us difficult to defend this year, having Lydon who is a 3 pt threat at the 5. Not saying it will be the starting unit but I think we will see it more than we think.

I'm pretty sure the NBA decided there were going to be a limited number of combine invites. Something in the neighborhood of 60 players.

So if you declare and aren't invited to the combine, it's a pretty good indication that you're not getting drafted this year.
