UAlbany in 2021

Now just sign a home and home with a G5 school with SU visiting them in 2021 and we're set for that year.

I like that SU's OOC opponents are announced to the public in a more timely fashion than under Doc Gross.

SU is paying the Danes 350k for the visit.

A bargain!

And they won't even need a hotel - they can bus over, get their butts whooped, then bus back home, all in the same day.

I would much rather play SUNY Albany than say, Middle Tennessee State. They might bring some fans, it is a sure win and it helps fund one of the struggling football programs in the state.

The only reason we ended up having to schedule Middle Tennessee State in the first place was because we waited far too long to find an opponent, and all the SUNY Albany type opportunities were long since gone. So yes, it is good the AD office is being more proactive. This is the kind of scheduling that plays a big role helping to determine if the team will go to a bowl game or not.

Well done John Wildhack, Herm Frazier and anyone else involved!

Yeah, but scheduling an FBS team vs. an FCS team are two different animals.

We paid $900K to Middle Tennessee to have them come here and beat us. It was not smart scheduling and bad business.

I hear what you are saying about FCS vs FBS. In this case, there was an opening for an FCS team, so it was a no brainer to get a team that you can bus it and pay a relatively low fee to come in.

If we need to book an FBS school, it makes more sense to book Army, or UMass, or SUNY Buffalo. Schools that are close by, will therefore not require a lot of money to book, who have a bad program and might even bring some fans. The problem is, a lot of schools want to play these programs because everyone is looking for the same things we are (or should be anyway).

Middle Tennessee State has talent, good coaching and has beaten a bunch of FBS schools. I think Syracuse was it's sixth FBS win. They are a dangerous team to play, much like East Carolina was back in the day. I want to avoid those situations whenever possible.

If the state will kick in money for the Dome schedule UAlbany/Stony Brook as the cupcake and give Buffalo a long term OOC deal.

If that is part of what the state would want do it.

This deal isn't anything special. UAlbany is going to be the Colgate/Holy Cross/ Central Connection of 2021z

Pencil it in as a nooner.

Maybe they could have NY college football day at the fair.

Does this mean that Syracuse is no longer "New York's College Team"? ;)

Congrats Ish88888 ! Always nice to see a dream come true for someone.

Lol, thank you. Will be fun. Winnable game with just a bit of in state, local juice to it. Love it. UAlbany will compete, a bit, as their recruiting has picked up with the move to the CAA and a beautiful new on campus stadium. Hey, why not, glad SU made it happen:)
