UCONN coaches not traveling to final four

Coaches convention held the same weekend in the Final Four city.

This was just supposed to be a joke at the expense of UCONN, but this is good too

It's in Indianapolis, not In the Annapolis.

As in a state that discriminates against gays and lesbians and Connecticut has decided it will not let its employees travel to Indiana.

Good call. I saw where Pat Haden wasn't going to a coaches convention in Indy but my brain hadn't made the connection yet that is why the UConn coaches weren't going. In my defense, I've been sick so I'm a little slow right now :)

Governor of CT essentially forbid state employees (e.g. UConn employees) from going to Indiana at state expense.

If the women's tourney were in Indy this year instead of the men's..... I wonder how that would have worked out.

UConn woman would have gone to Indiana. Moral stands only go so far.

Then I hope Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith don't attend the FF either. That would be great. In fact I think I'll tweet it to Sir Charles.

UConn coaches won't travel to Indianapolis for Final 4. Statement from President Susan Herbst

Were they even invited?
Geez, for a second I though you were talking about Geno and his staff. Then again do the UConn women need their coaches to win it all? lol

Think there will be discussion about Indiana's law as an off topic during the final four? I'm sure Barkley will raise it.

Buffalo, Binghamton, Stony Brook and Albany coaches won't be attending on the state's dime either.

No chance they would have forbid the Uconn team from playing.

I think Gino could have afforded to pay his own way. :)

Now I'm wondering what Gov Shumlin will do up here and if Coach Becker will be sitting this one out as well.

EDIT - Turns out the gov did issue a travel ban but that doesn't affect the travel plans of the UVM coaches for some reason. Wondering if they were already paying for it for themselves.

Actually, now that I think about it, they likely were using this as a chance to go visit with the family of Josh Speidel.

The women's final four is scheduled for Indy next year. Guess we won't have to wait too long to see what will happen.
