over the years and, I for one, am not gloating over their predicament.
I hope they make it to the ACC and we can resume our rivalry.

Clearly you have read 87% of Marsh's posts. And I agre with all of 'em. .

Have been kinda torn on this. On the one hand, what you say is true of their teams, and even Calhoun to some extent. On the other, their (and his) arrogance and bullying behavior have consistently turned many people off (see: Hoops' article). Guess the tipping point for me is that their fan base for the most part has consistently lived up to the same standards. Abusive, drunken was all I ever saw at MSG, etc. So, the verdict me is, in Marsh's immortal words: .

Completely agree. I don't think that I loathe a fanbase as much as theirs. Anyone who has been to the BET knows what I'm talking about. I get what everyone is saying about them and the ACC, but it wouldn't break my heart to see them rendered irrelevant.

Meh. I haven't been around Yukon fans enough to know if they are really evil, but I doubt they are any more drunk or evil than any team's fans. There are plenty of drunk/ahole stories about SU fans out there. Everybody says it about rival fans. And you can't go by the psychos that post in online forums, those are the most disturbed 1% of a fanbase in terms of obsession, aggression, etc. Even here, as was pointed out this week, the fan base is so abrasive that the football board doesn't like the basketball board.

I have never found Yukon to be nearly as repugnant as Georgetown in their prime. I mean it was the Soviet Union and Georgetown in the 1980's. It's like that book in the movie Casino, they got Al Capone's name in that book! Thats how Georgetown was. In recent years I have had the most vitriol for Pittsburgh. I feel like Pittsburgh is just some scrub ass bunch of street toughs, not a basketball team. Recent history has shown that they are a "poor man's Butler." I don't even want to play teams of such ilk, let alone lose games to them.

I put Yukon in a completely different category. They used to be scrubs, but they earned our respect. I would much prefer to have them than Pitt in the ACC. (Money, etc aside).

As much as I hate georgetown as a team, and always will, no matter how irreelavant they become, I loathe ucant fans, and that they feel they've carried the conference, and that somehow Storrs is the center of the universe.
So, to echo Marsh,...

I don't wish YuKon any particular ill will, but I don't have any desire to see them in the ACC. If someone else will be added I think it needs to be someone that will help on the football side and I don't see Yukon being anything more than another relatively mediocre football program. Yes, their hoops programs are strong, but having a strong basketball conference isn't going to help stabilize the ACC.

I think you keep that 16th spot open and see what develops.

Don't gloat too much...it's just a matter of time before UCONN is picked up by the ACC or the Big Ten.

The best part of your post is that UConn is the entire university. So essentially you've managed to F them twice without using the words "again", "two times" or any similar phrasing.

We're in the presence of genius here on this board.

We're Jon Favreau, UCONN is Vince Vaughn in this scene.

I think it is unfortunate that there are many schools who find themselves in the Big 5 who have never earned it on the field or court while teams like Cinci and UConn are left out. So while I don't like their coach, their teams or their fans I do feel bad for them. It could have just as easily been us.
