fans stand and clap until they get a basket each half. Wonder where they got that idea from?

Obviously ... they got the clap from UConn men.

Ya me too, I don't think thats ever been done before.

BET games against uconn were always fun with both sets of fans standing and clapping.

Women's basketball is unwatchable

I'm sorry..
This will not be a popular post here, but whatever.

It is said that women are more critical of women than men are, so maybe it's true. I found the women's tournament unwatchable, in large part because of the women announcers. Take the semi-final doubleheader. With the exception of Rebecca Lobo, the six or so women announcers were all fat, flabby, loud and dressed atrociously. And the Maryland coach did not look much better in that bizarre outfit that barely held in her body parts. And they seemed incapable of talking in a normal tone of voice.

Were they all former players? Wannabe Mike Tirico's who could not get into Newhouse? Who knows. But from my perspective they were a terrible advertisement for the women's game. I realize very few women can look like the latest Hollywood starlet, but these women seemed like they were trying to look and sound unattractive. What's wrong with a tailored blazer ... rather than a neon blue spandex thing that is three sizes too small...especially when you are seriously over-weight? In general, they seemed a terrible advertisement for the sport they were trying to market.

I wish that clap thing would stop. What I really don't like about it is in games when we don't score quickly, it serves as a reminder that we haven't scored in several minutes, the players certainly notice and then you have the announcers talking about it. If fans are hell-bent on continuing a clapping tradition, how about flip the script. Let's clap for our defense. That is, stand up and clap for as long as we can keep the other team from making a basket. Instead of putting the focus and pressure on us, how about doing it to the other team. I would actually like this. Clap and support our D while sort of mocking the other teams for not scoring.

Arizona fans stand until the opponent scores its first basket. I think New Mexico may have taken that tradition from Arizona in reverse.

They probably get halfway through their second clap before they score.
