UGA OL de-committ in play for Cuse

Sounds like he would be a great late pick up. I'd assume we have the advantage over UCF and Tulane. Have to wonder what the family reasons were..

Read the comments in the AJC article. GA immigration law? Can't be, no way, really?

I really hope this kid comes here... Never hurts to have a big, nasty Samoan mauler in the middle of your line.

On ESPN he said he hopes when the situation resolves he can transfer to Georgia no matter what school he goes to. I don't know how interested we should be.

So...a 6-5, 340 lbs Somoan offensive lineman decomits from an SEC school, falls from the sky, and lands in Syracuse? Things like that don't happen to the Orange. It would be like having a Winter without snow in the middle of January.

I could absolutely see where a kid from a family of immigrants would decline to play for a school in a state that has passed immigrant "unfriendly" type law.

He has a Georgia Southern offer as well and he's not talking about them anymore either. So if that played a part in his decision, well so be it

UGA offered him after seeing him in camp. He will probably play guard at the next level. He would be a great pick up..6'5" 325lbs

As a side note, if you read that AJC article there are a couple of interesting facts.. Marc Richt has been at UGA for 10 years now. Has had pretty good success in the SEC and is coming off a pretty good year with a 10-2 record

1. UGA has had 5 decommits from this class
2. 10 years in and he is still signing JUCO kids...

Kids de-commit all the time and schools use JUCOs...even at good programs like UGA...

decommits are a part of the landscape now more than ever, to me it actually means your recruiting is getting better when you lose a couple.

This would be cool if we landed him!! Can never have enough big uglys!!! I just got a little gitty...

I thought the interviewer was obnoxious. How many times was he going to ask Brown to divulge his "personal family reasons"?
So has he actually declared for Syracuse? The initial post indicates he has, but the articles don't confirm this.
I would swap Brown for Owens any day of the week. Not only is Brown more highly rated, OL is a position of greater need.

Agree. Guy was really rude.

OP says he's "in play" for Syracuse - meaning that SU is one of the schools that now have a shot at him.

What initial post are you talking about? Not mine..just says we are in play for him..

He's currently living near the Georgia coast. One wonders if other schools (itger than UCF) will offer now that word is out. With only two written offers, his choices are limited. The other thing to remember is that LOI day is only the start of the signing period. He can wait if he needs and spots are available.

Sorry... I thought it said "... to play for Cuse."
Wishful thinking, I guess.
Thanks for the clarification.

I hope Adkins can get him up here for a visit.

I'd trade LB's for big uglies any day of the week.

That means it's sure to happen then. It's January 24th, and we haven't had a snowfall of more than about 4 inches all winter. Looking like we might break the record for least snow (knock on wood).

Just read that he won't be committing on Feb 1st. He's going to take his visits and find the best fit.

That's the right thing for him to do.

The latest from Atlanta radio is that his mother claims that he was born in the US but has no documentation to prove that. I could see that happening if a scared, undocumented, woman decides to have her baby delivered by a midwife who is friendly to the undocumented.

If the intent is to have the child on the books in hopes that this will eventually lead to citizenship being extended to the entire family, then the usual play is to walk into a we-take-all hospital as labor starts. This may be intimidating (depending on US locale) but it happens oodles of times every day. It was also used by Hong Kong residents shortly before control was returned to China. It was not uncommon for them to go on vacation to Canada during their pregnancy.
