As we ponder if a win today will get us a 3 seed, please reflect on the worst snub in NCAA history.
The 1980-81 SU team included future NBA pro Leo Rautins, JB's first McDAA Tony "Red" Bruin and Danny Schayes, in his senior year. Schayes had waited 3 years as back-up center behind Rosie Bouie. (He still holds the most games played in the NBA by an SU player). It also included fast Eddie Moss at guard.
In the BET, that team blew out the Hoyas in the semis and beat Nova in the final.
SU is the only team in history to win the BE tournament and not receive an NCAA invite.
