I was reading about Nebraska cancelling their home opener against Akron due to inclement weather. The article referenced this item in the game contract (emphasis mine)...

Item No. 9 of the contract includes the circumstances in which the agreement "would be void" because the game was cancelled by "disaster, fire, war, terrorism, earthquake or calamities including rebellion, insurrection or confiscation of Memorial Stadium by order of government."

I didn't realize games were subject to post-apocalyptic clauses. I'm surprised there isn't something in there about zombies.

I love this. "If a riot breaks out or the stadium becomes a rebel / army base, we're cancelling."

Nebraska had players suspended for this game - and they will not serve a suspension any longer. Kickoff was enough for them!

Herm, if you're reading this, you need to instruct council to include zombies as a contingent item...asap.

What about alien invasion? If we're doing zombies you've gotta do aliens too.

Its not really that outrageous there was a human shield this year around the Sacramento Kings Arena for a game after an unarmed black person was murdered by cops.

If the Dome collapses due to snow and we miss a football game that can't be rescheduled I hope noone sues us same thing if we play a southern team and the games cancelled for a hurricane I hope we aren't trashy and don't sue them either.

Pretty standard contract stuff, known as force majeure clause.

ˌfôrs mäˈZHər/
noun
  1. 1.
unforeseeable circumstances that prevent someone from fulfilling a contract.
  2. 2.
    irresistible compulsion or greater force.
