Omaha-warm weather? It's not Key West-Jimmy Buffett.Warren buffet NIL money, basketball only, warm weather location - tough to compete with that
LOL Buffett has nothing to do with Creighton and their winters are no fun at all.Warren buffet NIL money, basketball only, warm weather location - tough to compete with that
Huh?Warren buffet NIL money, basketball only, warm weather location - tough to compete with that
Sarcasm about the weather. Just rolling out the excuses for why we can’t compete with creightonHuh?
Our $2m - $2.5m is good enough to be better than we are, but each year top programs keep getting more and more. In 2022 when JB was talking about Buddy makes 15-30k, that $2m+ would have been great. It's still good, but now top programs are at $5m+. We're in defensive posturing to keep our stars from leaving. We don't need the most, we need to spend it wisely and we need good coaching. So we have other problems right now. But it feels like we're constantly chasing. The brand is in the danger zone. I don't know the whole back story and I know it's taboo here, and some say Weitsman had unethical dealings the university was worried about and others say the chancellor just had a problem with him, but at this point I'd really like the university to make every effort to increase its NIL and donations to the AD. Even if that means bringing Weitsman back into the fold, unless he really is unsavory, but if it's just personality problems they should try to quash it. You saw the post last week -- the team's taking the bus to games. Obviously NIL and athletics budget are separate, but much of it comes from the same pot -- donors. And with attendance down due to bad teams, donors are even more important. It just would feel nice to not feel like we're constanting chasing and playing catch up.We had a billionaire willing to back up the brinks truck. He was sitting court side every home game. We can’t complain when it comes to money. We had it and threw it away.
Right, without a good NIL budget you are just a development team. You recruit guys and if they do any good the bigger teams just come take them. Our $2m - $2.5m is good enough to be better than we are, but each year top programs keep getting more and more. If Weitsman's support is contingent on the coach being a JB guy or someone else he likes but can't lead a program he either needs a Come To Jesus talk or to be told to kick rocks.Weitsman was a big JB guy. But I’m sure he still has plenty of connections at Syracuse. Donors like him don’t grow on trees. As long as we aren’t doing anything against NCAA policies then who cares.
Weitsman is no longer a donor to the school. Thanks to Kent Syverud. He didn’t like what AW was doing with the celebrities and talking NIL to the media. Which I understand to a point. If Weitsman's support is contingent on the coach being a JB guy or someone else he likes but can't lead a program he either needs a Come To Jesus talk or to be told to kick rocks.
