Everybody knows the South region has been 'nuked'. A 9 seed and an 11 seed will be playing for a shot at the Final Four!. Just how 'nuked' was it?
if you grade upsets simply by subtracting the seeds, (a 12 beats a 5 = 7 points), the regionals thus far look like this:
South: 16-1 plus 9-8 plus 13-4 plus 11-6 plus 11-3 plus 7-2 plus 9-5 plus 11 -7 = 51 points with a potential for 2 more.
West: 9-8 plus 9-1 plus 7-2 plus 9-4 = 19 points with a potential for 6 more.
East: 9-8 plus 13-4 plus 10-7 = 13 points with a potential for 5 more.
Midwest: 11-6 plus 5-4 plus 11-3 = 14 points with the potential for 19 more.
Yeah, I guess that's 'nuked'.
