That is not encouraging. It seems either (1) the SPD realizes they screwed up in 2003 by not involving feds when they learned of allegations in other jurisdictions (w/o SOLs) and dont want to make same mistake again or (2) they have more substantial evidence (as also suggested by apparent intention to present to grand jury referenced in subpoena issue) and are involving feds because of out of state charges.

depends on if they are right or wrong. it could be bernie and others that won't hold up well. with the accusations made, it is the right thing to do regardless of who is right.

They are simply covering all bases. This is standard procedure for anything out of State as the SPD and DA do not have any legal authority to even investigate out of their own jurisdiction. The only way to move forward in another state is to take this action

What it means most is that this investigation will be LENGTHY. Unless they can just agree the accusers lack total credibility, this will be a multi-jurisdictional process that will drag forever with nobody wanting to proclaim him innocent. Proclaiming him guilty? People will line up for that because then they can claim they took a predator off the street. "We didn't find any corroborating witnesses" is so unsatisfying if you want press or votes...

I don't remember 1987 specifically, but I don't think I've been to an NCAA game when Bernie's wife has not been there. All the coaches' wives go to these games. Even when they have small kids. They bring along babysitters (seriously).

Timmy Welch said that he was Bernie's roomate unless it was the NCAA or BET. Because on those occasions, Bernie's wife was there. But also Davis was on those trips as a babysitter. Not sure if he stayed in the same room as the family, but if these allegations are true, then Bernie must be a ninja master to pull that off.

at the end of the day all we can ask for is a fair and thorough investigation. in theory, the more eyeballs there are makes it more likely that will happen. if fine is innocent, he should be rooting for every agency possible to get involved.

If I go by the HBO show "Boardwalk Empire", I believe you are right. Great pull. The protagonist in Boardwalk Empire is being brought up on charges of violating the Mann Act for bringing prostitutes across state lines for the purposes of influencing the vote. Just in case you wanted a little plot summary.
