US Open coming back to Winged Foot

I love going to that event. Went to the PGA there and the US Open. Opened up the article to see when it is and it's not until 2020. Wow. Then I figured out how old I will be in nine years. Woof. Hopefully I'll still be able to walk around a golf course then.

I was also there for both. Just a phenomenal and difficult track. The last open there was great. Great thing about Winged Foot is you dont really need too do much to make it hard as its brutal by itself.

Glad to see it going back there.

Also heard the rumor that the Black would be hosting the Ryder cup in either 2020 or 2024. That would be incredible to have it there.

Awesome. I've played both the east and west courses multiple times. My favorite course on earth. And I'm all set to play it next spring, as I won a foresome at a ALS fundraiser silent auction last year.

I too have been fortunate enough to play it. Such a treat

why are you waiting 9 years to go when its coming in 7?
I feel a lot better knowing it's only seven and not nine. Thanks.

didnt want you sitting our there in 2022 wondering where every one was.. though you probably would get much better seating in 2022

When I first walked it in 1997, it didn't look too difficult until you see the guys actually play and saw how many guys actually broke par. I happened to be there for one of the practice days and the guys were practicing from all over the fairway and putting from every square inch of the greens. Followed Tiger and Jack for a while but spent a lot of time standing about five feet from Ernie Els watching him practice his putting. Tiger had a huge following, but it was the first (and only ) time that I saw Jack in person.

In 2006 I went on Saturday. Of course Tiger had missed the cut, so there was a little less glamour to the event. I was with some other people so didn't spend as much time walking the course as I liked, but spent some time watching Phil and Bones on the practice range about 2.5 hours before he teed off. I just so happened to be standing next to the great Ernie Accorsi who is friends with Phil. We then spent at least a couple hours hanging out on the bleachers surrounding the 18th green. I'm not sure I saw anyone birdie the hole the entire time and in fact we probably saw as many bogies as we did pars. It's amazing that Ogilvy won the tourney with a +5.
