usain bolt vs the world

That was an interesting read. Since this is an SU board, I encourage people to open the story on the history of the long jump in the Olympics. The first guy they highlight in the blub, the first great long jumper in modern Olympics history, was Meyer Prinstein. Meyer won a gold medal in the long jump and the triple jump in both the 1900 and 1904 Olympics, making him one of the most accomplished and successful jumpers in modern Olympic history. Meyer also set a bunch of world records and won everything there was to win in his day. Prinstein might well have won another gold medal in 1900 but for a controversial incident with arch rival Alvin Kraenzlein (boo hiss, read all about it in the Prinstein bio below).

I bring this up because Meyer went to Syracuse University. He is surely the most forgotten great SU athlete ever. Would love to see a window display at Manley devoted specifically to him and his accomplishments. If the track and field team gets a nice facility to replace Manley down the road, it should be named after Meyer Prinstein.

Gotta love those pix...no stadiums (hell, no stands for that matter); very few, if any, fans; events held in a dirt lot with smoke belching out of a factory in the background;

That's great! Meyer Prinstein: SU alum, Olympic Gold Medal winner, Attorney, and Bad Ass! Who knew!
