Apologise if this has already been discussed but it has seemed to me that in every game this year the use of timeouts, when on Defense, has been significantly more common then the use of TO when on offense. I cant recall what the trend was during last year but this worries me. I have always been an advocate of holding the TO's for the offense to use to score if possible during the ned of the Half/Game.
I know every situation is different and unique but it seems like we use our TO's more than most teams do when on Defensive side of the ball. For the coaches out there is this often the result of poor preperation/game planning by the Defensive Coordinator? Or is this usage of Defensive TO's common in an Offensive scheme like the one we run (ie is there a philosophy behind the value of TO's, being higher valued when used defensively rather than offensively given its quick strike capability)?
