I mean, when you're struggling and have some huge momentum plays go in your favor -  it's huge.  The refs stole that momentum down the stretch whenever the opportunity presented itself.  It was sh***y.

UVA plays off their defense, that was a phenomenal block, a potential momentum changer, they call the foul on Atkins.  Contact on the other end exceeded that - but no call followed.  Free throw contest ensues and Atkins is stuck on the bench - 14 boards and the only player on UVA in double-digits at the time.

UVA is about to get a steal or jump ball, Michigan State is awarded a time out without having possession of the ball.  Huh?  I mean, it doesn't get more basic than that.  Izzo can't just stop play because he feels like it - but this time he could.

Some calls are harder than others - but even without the replay I don't think a single person didn't see the errors on those plays - the announcers sure did.  For a team like UVA especially, those are HUGE calls - because the offense comes off the defense.  There were a couple other questionable ones, but those to me, decided the game.  Again, not saying UVA would win - but the officiating did a lot to ensure they would not.

I think people are way too dismissive about the impact these calls have - giving a kid a 4th foul on an insanely clean block is huge - it's not just one blown call, it's everything that may have followed and it's having to put that kid on the bench.  Same thing with the timeout.  Yeah, I do think UVA loses, but that stuff killed them imo.

UVA was god-awful on offense though - so, they need to place most of the blame on themselves fwiw...

But officiating in this tourney is just as awful as UVA's offense thus far....
