Thought they did a good job calling the game today. I know Verne takes a lot of heat on here but I like the guys voice. Dudes been one of the voices of college hoops since my youth...and after Initially disliking Clark on the Mic (always liked him in studio) he has grown on me. GO ORANGE

I disagree...Verne was awful, as usual. CK was great. Verne is a legend but he should've hung up the mic 5 years ago.

Sounded like Verne was rooting for a close game.

He erupted on a few UConn 3s and didn't get too excited when SU made some nice plays.

Verne had so many mistakes in calling the game, I lost count. Time for better eyes or thought process. Great announcing voice ready to retire.

Seems like Clark has always been pro SU.

Kellog's best moment was in the 2nd half when after Scoop hit a 3, Kellog predicted "Scoop wants the ball. He's feeling it." About 3 secs later Jardine drains another 3, and Kellog comments "I could see it in his eyes."

That was good but so was this...

"CJ Fair. We call him a poundcake player. Simple but oh so sweet." haha Never heard that before but I love it!

I don;t think it was even 3 seconds!

Yes he made numerous mistakes but I think he had to be the about the 3rd best play by play man this year. The announcing teams have been awful. And give him big kudos fo taking the time to say all the walk on's names. Class act.

I would rather have Verne & Clark then ESPN's Beth Mowins  OR Doris Burke

Kellogg always has some interesting comments and he's easy to listen to. They keep the chatter on the game unlike a lot of crews that tell stories about all kinds of stuff unrelated to the game.

Agreed. I also dislike when the announcers take so long explaining a concept about the last play to display their knowledge that they dont call the current play. I think Bob Knight did that once in the last game, even though I've started to like him otherwise. These guys were a lot more enjoyable than most of the other crews we've had this year, to me anyhow.

Another one, that I liked even more--Kellogg commented that we had had several spurts in the game, and that UConn had come back every time. Then he added that they had to stop the Orange from going on one more run, because they probably couldn't recover again.

Voilà! 18-1 run. And the Huskies were out of it after the first 9.

Kellog did a good job. Verne...uh, not so much. The game has changed and so has the type of coverage which is expected by the viewers. Todays viewers are infinitely more knowlegeable about the game than they were back in his heyday. It is easy to differentiate between those commentators who are students of todays game and those who are more a voice with tired and worn cliches and generally accepted memes.
