I'm glad we got Verne and raf... But did he really need to list the SU off the cournt struggles for the upteneth time... Bernie, failed drug tests, Fab... By the numbers... And to make it worse Wsicy went on a big run right after the list... Really grated on me

Loved the Raf cyo reference on the high arcer from Dion... Wife and son had no idea what that meant

Actually yes, he did. Might have been fined if he didn't.

It doesn't bother me. It's his job. Tennessee got the same thing last year with the Bruce Pearl recruiting stuff.

Get the puppies organized young fella!!!!

Love his commentary on Gates. He is spot on. Stay in your office big guy...you are not a 17 foot jump shooter.

I thought Verne oversold Keita fouling out of the game. With so little time left, I don't think any of us were that concerned.

Agree, I just tune it out at this point. I expect to hear it for the rest of the tournament.

I thought the same thing when he started on his rant. I could not figure for the life of me why he felt a need to bring it up then. Maybe in the beginning of the game if you feel you have to...then move on.

Interesting. I don't even remember him giving any subjective slant on it. I do agree though that it wasn't a huge concern since we had Christmas to come back in.

I don't enjoy it being brought up but maybe he was trying to say that SU has gone through a lot of adversity and is still battling and doing well.

I'd prefer he skip it :) SU fans have had their fill.

Verne's like your crazy loveable uncle. You don't listen to what he says, you just like having him around.

I have a enough, Cuse fans have had enough.

Its not right and not fair. Vitale did the same thing on SC last night

If this was november or december or january, i could understand

Were in late march going into april, ppl know the story

So them

Me too but the more we advance, the more we will have newer viewers that may not about our issues.

Vern did our two wins in Boston in 2003, and obviously last night. We're 3-0 with him in Boston. Enough said.

Sure beats Gus Johnson (Vermont loss, Butler loss, Marquette loss). Although he did our Auburn and Oklahoma games in 03.

When Keita picked up either his 4th or 5th, he reminded us that Melo was suspended, which suggested that depth was an issue. I wouldn't call it a subjective slant. He was just overstating the impact.

Verne is a disgrace. He is a corporate puppet. He knows nothing about what he is watching, he stammers and comments like a goofy uncle who has never seen the sport before... he was laughing giddily at one point when Cincy's coach through his jacket off and it landed on an asst coaches head, it was like the best part of the game for him... but as soon as a CBS corporate advertisement came ... BAM, he goes into his zone. That's his sweetspot; 'corporate-shill-mode'. He is the quintessential parody of Howard Stern's "W NNNNNNNN B C" segment.

There was one point during the Ohio St game where he broke from a Digger rant during a timeout to point out who was coming into the game for Ohio St which went like this: "OK so now on the court for Ohio St who do we have, it'll be Sullinger ..." ... *awkward pause waiting for Digger to fill in the blanks* ... Digger says nothing ... Verne changes the subject. He couldn't name more than one player on the court.

It didn't bother me because he was trying to say it in a positive fashion. Meaning, look at the high level this team is playing at, despite all of these distractions. That was what he was going for in my opinion.

The thing that amazes me most about Verne is the size of his head. It looks like it should have a moon in orbit around it.

Actually I didn't get it either. Just the idea that that's a kind of goofy shot you see someone tossing up in rec leagues?

I go two ways on this.
1. I'm freaking sick of it, and good lord it makes me want to throw something through the TV. Repeatedly sh!tting on our season even at its best moments, thanks guys.
2. They're announcers and commentators and it's clearly part of the Syracuse storyline. Whatever else it is, it's obviously news, and it's obviously relevant background. So how can they not talk about it, especially for more casual fans who haven't followed it like we do? Particularly with 2 hours to fill.

So the irrational me wants to punch not just Verne, but also the rational me, in the face.

If he just said "look at the high level this team is playing at, despite all of these distractions." that would be fine. But he didn't. He went through the list of details. Bernie, "drugs", Melo, and Melo2.

Low ceilings in some of those church league gyms in the 60's, 70's and 80's...

Ahhhhhhhh.

Funny, I actually played regularly in a gym with a super low ceiling once upon a time. Not a church league though.
