That is a dimension of his game that he flashed last year, but hasn't been able to demonstrate in the previous couple of games this year. When he hits that shot consistently, he's going to be very difficult to defend at this level. Glad to see him gaining confidence with that shot.

Also great to see him MAKING them.

i'll also say that altho i see the mooseman taking a little bit of heat again here i thought that his finishes underneath were rather impressive. 2 for 3 ain't bad.

When Grant shoots he bends too far back before he releases his shot. He needs to work on squaring up his shoulders and rising straight up on his jump shot. He needs to work on his shot's form and increase his range.

Also, I think CJ needs to do something to his shot form. He seems like he's bending down too low or leaning forward before he rises to take his shot. Something did not seem right last night with his shot.

He also had 2 nice assists - a real offensive explosion for him last night :)

Kid is just super fun to watch. He has correctable issues. Once he irons them out he'll dominate, even at the next level.

Not sure that I agree on either count.

Grant's release is funky, but it has nothing to do with bending. Watch how he shoots FTs.

CJ's form might not conjure images of Janulis, but he sure doesn't need to correct it. The statistical numbers speak for themselves.

I don't want to keep repeating myself because I have said it in 2 of my threads already, but I can't say enough how impressed I am watching him practice. I'm not exaggerating when I say he routinely knocks down 15 consecutive 15 -17 footers on a regular occasion. He strokes it with so much confidence in practice it's just a matter of time it's transfers over to the game. His shot does look a bit different come live action, but that all comes with practice and confidence. Look at Cooney for example. It took a bit for his practice performance to transfer over to game situations. I am confident we will see the same with Jerami, and when we do watch out. I'm just hoping it's not a year after he leaves Syracuse. This kid has a bright future, but let's hope we get some in the present.

I am not sure the statistics support your argument. And I mostly disagree with your opinion. The one time I saw Grant miss he really had a leaning back arc in his posture before the release. It was a strange looking jump-shot form. CJ has missed a lot of shots lately and when he does he does this weird wind up to the jump shot where he bends his knees and the ball is low around his waist before he shoots. It seems to me players with good jump shot forms square up to the basket and rise straight up and then release. I imagine there's probably a lot information you can google on what constitutes a good jump shot form.

Fair's not going straight up as he did in his first three years. I don't doubt that's why he's missed a couple open looks.

Grant has always had a little fade (and he's often not squared). Different from his free-throw release.

Much better, especially on the second make.

Stats? We're six games into the season. Stats normalize over time. Grant hasn't hit jumpers until last night, but that's part of his repertoire. It will be a consistent weapon he demonstrates from here on out.

As for CJ, give me a break. Feel free to google all the information you want about what constitutes good jump shot form--he makes shots, and he makes them when it counts.

Fair makes his outside shot when the ball stays high and he doesn't take a lot of time. When he brings it low to set his feet he misses. No break is needed. CJ is a terrific player. I think you reading to much into my posts with your "give me a break". All I am saying is there are certain times CJ does this weird wind up before he shoots.
