Ran across this on You-Tube. It's an edited replay of a 1959 Notre Dame-USC game with original TV images and commentary by Harry Wismer and Irish AD Moose Krause, probably broadcast on Sunday, as they later did with Lindsay Nelson and Paul Hornung. This is from SU's Golden Year of 1959. The Trojans had been a major contender for #1, winning their first 8 games before losing to UCLA, (whom we then belted 36-8 on the same field a week later. Meanwhile the Irish were lying in wait for the Trojans in South Bend. This 5 minute clip shows a) the worst kick return of all time and b) a fan running around on the field, which they never show ow but showed with mirth back then. They somehow conclude that the fan was from New York. I guess fans don't get drunk in Indiana. Also note the tearing down of the goal posts, a tradition long since past. Anyway, it's 5 minutes in a time machine.
